Prepare to be underwhelmed (and perhaps take a break from all of that couponing)! There was not a single item that appeared to be a great deal in the new Meijer ad. Some of you may be relieved that you can rest your coupon binders for a while....

So, there's nothing exciting to report this morning. And while that's sad, maybe it's just for the best.

Next week at Meijer, you can find "deals" like:

$0.39 Meijer Mac & Cheese
(and a couple weeks ago Kraft was this exact price)

(and let's just think about that Del Monte deal last week!)

I agree with you, Jonoma. Nothing exciting...What did you think of the new layout for the ad? Seems like there's less sale items now. We can only hope for something better next week. As for me, I will take a break from the couponing.

BUT, I did notice the ground round from the meat counter is a good price....

Ground Round for $1.69/lb isn't too bad - you're right!

That was the first thing I noticed this week - the ad is SHORT (as in "not tall") - similar to the size of a Target ad or the normal Meijer general merchandise ad, with maybe an extra page added in. There's not much to it. I'm hoping this is temporary, but it may just be something new. Who knows?

But unless a great deal pops up (I've already checked the Mealbox coupons and there's nothing new there), I'll be taking a vacation from Meijer next week as well. Here's hoping Kroger might have something better to offer!

Sadly, Meijer is going to start having less items in the ad. This was discussed at one of our meetings a couple weeks ago. I didn't think it was going to happen this soon though. They felt that people were overwhelmed by all the deals and the large ad was just too confusing. I wish they'd leave it alone. I like the deals they had. I don't shop at Kroger because their ad is so small and it seems like the same stuff on sale week after week. I hope Meijer doesn't cut back that much.

I'm glad about this week since I'm going out of town and wont be back until late Sunday after the shelves would usually be cleared.... but I wish they would keep the same amount of sale items in the future!

Do you think if we e-mail Meijer and voice our disappointments, maybe they will go back to having a bigger add?

I would wait and see just how much smaller the ads are. If you don't like it, it wouldn't hurt to email them. I'm sure it's saving the company a lot of money, but they'd be losing more money if that many people started shopping elsewhere.

Sigh. I wish Meijer would quit trying to 'improve' things. I am not anti change, but here lately not one of their changes has been coupon/deal shopper friendly really. I always liked M better than Kroger because as a rule the prices and sales were better but if this keeps up I may have to expand my shopping further afield.

Less items on sale means only that there will be less opportunities to find sale items that match up with coupons. I hope that the sale items they DO have will be less of the "great Meijer price" items (which are regular prices) and more actual good discounts (more 1/2 price would be nice)! If it's really a step down, then I'm sure they'll hear it from their customers...
