Ok, this is my own fault, but I forgot to pay my bill. That's what happens when you have 2 kids and are busy. Anyway, I called today to see if they would wave the $39 late fee and the indian speaking guy would not. He said I had it waved in Jan, so he couldn't. I was so irritated that I cancelled it. Once it was done I had the oh no feeling.

I really like the .05 off gas and extra 5% groceries or 15% off GM they randomly do. It is probably better though since I seem to forget this bill more and more. I always pay it in full, so that didn't really matter. Just so annoying. I wonder if they won't wave them more and more since the economy is bad...

why didn't you go into the store to pay it and see if the store manager would waive it for you?

Just crunching some numbers to try and make you feel better about your decision to cancel it. You would have had to spend $800 in groceries on days you got the 5% off ($40) to pay for one late fee. When you think about it that way, it doesn't really save you much to use their card. I thought about getting a Meijer credit card too, but I would forget to pay it. It is nice that you can do it in the store....I could see me running to Meijer the day it's due at 10:58 (service desk closes at 11 PM here)!!! I'm sorry they wouldn't wave the fee for you. I've had that happen and it sucks. If you ever decide you want another one, maybe DH can put it in his name (if you're worried they wouldn't re-issue one to you since you cancelled it).
