I had my best Meijer shopping trip yet last night! I only went to get a few more Lysol products since I still had the Qs and a couple freebies... okay and a few of the 10/$10s too But, I did much better than I had expected. First of all, using what I've learned from AFC over these last few weeks, I requested rainchecks for the items that were sold out so I can go back next week and hopefully pick them up (hey, I have Qs for those things!)...Okay, here's what I did get: Zatarains x4 Betty Crocker Warm Delights x3 Betty Crocker boxed potatoes x1 Froxen veggies x4 Hunts Snack Pack pudding x3 Meijer canned fruit x6 Lysol products x5 Toaster Strudel x2 Coffee-Mate Creamer x2 Pledge x1 Freschetta Pizza x1 Total for 32 items before savings $71.08 Minus non-coupon savings of $24.07 Minus coupon savings of $33.26 Equals a total savings of $57.33 and a total oop of ...drumroll please...$13.75!!! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am not sure what happend but I bought 42 packs mentos gum 2 20 oz diet cokes 1 reeses peanut butter cup 1 small bag sour cream and cheddar chips I noticed the cashier was still scanning the coupons and the total said 2 cents so I told him that I would just take the remainder of the coupons he had in his hand back. I thought it was 2 cents that I owed but apparently it was 2 cents in the negative because he handed me the 2 pennies and bagged my stuff and said have a nice day!!! |

| 3/21/09 Meijer Shopping Trip
OK, I'm new to this, so I'm not sure how I did here, but it seemed to go OK. I usually shop at Aldi, but am going to try shopping the sales to get more for my buck. Since the 10/$10 sale was mix and match, I got 2 free $1.00 items. I bought three 12 packs of pepsi for $10 and got a free 12 pack of Mt. Dew. I got 2 packages of the pork steak for 99 cents/lb, 2 boxes of Huggies at 19.99 w/ $3.00 coupons for them, so 16.99 each. I got the apples at .84/lb, strawberries 3/$5, 4 free coffee creamers w/ coupons, Bagelfuls for around 35 cents/box w/ mf coupons and mealbox coupon, Betty Crocker Warm delights for 35 cents each w/ mf coupon, and many of our other regular groceries. I ended up spending $114.16 out of pocket, and saving $80.09. So savings of approx. 40%. Sounds high, but remember, I got 2 giant boxes of diapers, lots of meat and soda. I then shopped County Market for 1.59/lb ground chuck and 88 cent/lb grapes and spent another $60 at Aldi for essentials that weren't on sale at Meijer. This is a 2 week shopping trip for $185.00 for a family of 5. This is about $50 less than we typically do, and we got items that we can't normally afford, such as the Bagelfuls, BC Warm Delights, grapes, and strawberries, plus a spare pack of diapers. I'm pleased considering this is my first week of couponing! |

Today, I spent $130 and saved $164, which doesn't include the savings on two hams. I figure that brings my savings up to about $194. I actually got lots of meat in that trip, too! It's hard work, but worth every penny!
