Summer time favorite.......wrap russets in foil and toss in the campfire. Once it's done, top with baked beans
(we have a tripod campfire grate, a can or pot of beans go on it while the fire is going).
Also toss soaked in water (husks on!) corn on the cob on the hot coals.......no mess in the kitchen, and a FANTASTIC meal!

Squeezing potatoes in as fillers for my 11/$10 deals, I now am up to 19 bags (I had 10 bags still from previous sale) so far.....will get more on Saturday when I ride with my friend to Meijer's!!!

I think I'll get some ready tonight and stick in the dehydrater, just because.

And here is a little "eye-candy" for all the potato people out there.

And OMG I could KICK myself! I was out shopping today, had extra time and wanted to go to Meijer. BUT, I could not think of one deal they were offering this week! CAN YOU BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT THE POTATOES???? All I could think of was "eggs", and didn't want to go in just for that. hmmm.

No...I cant believe such a thing....when i have days like that I begin to wonder if I'm using my head for a hat rack or a hair holder..good grief Char get a grip !

I just knew you'd get a kick out of that!!!!!! Only because I'm planning on picking up AT LEAST another 11 bags, maybe 22.....and I'm still a "newbie" when it comes to my dehydrator, having only had it a few months now.

sounds like a cheap way to play ...by now you could feed at least a small army with all these potato sales....wish i lived closer...i would shop ur meijer, the turn over on potatoes has to be huge with you, my potato friend... always fresh at ur store! ;0

I went ahead and picked up 6 more bags today on my way to pay property taxes.....worked them into a 11/$10 deal, got 2 small OJ (free with double Q's), 3 salads (free with Q's) and 6 bags of potatoes, then also picked up 4 Ortega seasonings......$4.71

Peeled up 3 of the super-dooper large russets tonight and grated them into hash browns for dinner. From raw to cooked, super fast!!

Anyone who shops at Kroger ......................guess what.

More $1 potatoes. New to me kind!

They are called Steakhouse Roasters and the bag is only 1.5 lb.
They are small long potatoes and mixed colors of red and white in the bag.
I saw them but haven't bought any yet.

That was my thoughts too! Since we love the ones at Meijer that give us twice as much I probably won't buy any!

Quick question, I have a basement so considering stocking up. For some reason in the past two trips i've made to Meijer this week i've missed this deal :/

When storing them, do you store them in the plastic bags or re-bag them in paper or something?

I store mine in my basement.....it's cool down there.

I don't do anything, just put them down there as is, in their bags they come in.

BUT, we do use them very fast here, and even if they do start getting soft or sprouting, I still peel and cook!
