any food salvage stores in the MD area?

I am from PA where there are many food salvage stores, such as Amilia's, Sharp shopper, and many other small stores run by Mennonites.

I've moved to Maryland and am looking for such a store here--does anyone in Maryland have such a store near them.

They often have food items that are about to expire....I've tried websearches, phone books, but most of these stores operate by word of mouth....

I had no idea we had these in the us! I use to shop at one in Liverpool and loved it for crackers and cookies. They had a lot of stuff! I'll keep an eye out.

Have you ever been to Sharp Shopper in PA? I just discovered it exists. Not too far from me but I was wondering if it's really that good of a deal to make the trip.

If you are in Pennsylvania you should check out B&B in Morgantown. Ya never know what they will have, but their deals are awesome! Some recent finds....potatoes 10 cents a pound, 4/$1.00 bagged salads, funindamiddles cupcake mix 10/$1.00, K-Cup boxes $2.99, Philadelphia Cooking Creme 4/$1.00. They have some ridiculous bargains!!!

I got the chance to check out Sharp Shopper in Ephrata today. It was packed! I hope it's not always like that. I had a wonky-wheeled cart and two impatient kids so I only made it through 3 aisles but did find some good deals before I decided to quit fighting the crowd. Mott's applesauce snack n go individual pouches at 3 for $1 were my best deal. I was very tempted by the big Toberlone's near the register for $1.49 but they expired in Jan 2013. They are great for fondue but I don't make it that often and since they were already past date I decided to skip them. I'm looking forward to going back sometime.

I LOVE that store, I wished I lived in PA so that I could go there every day! I visit the PA area twice a year with my parents and we always come home with a mini van FULL of groceries.

chesapeake traders

I found Ches. Traders by accident. It's bascially word of mouth. I used to work as a cook, so I recognize the products/brand names. Restaurant grade stuff! Love their desserts!

I agree. I've been in MD all my life and only know of the food banks around for salvage foods. Would also love to know of others to try? Please advise me as well if you can find any.

Please tell me if any are near southern Md or the Annapolis area where I am. The ones listed are very far away. It would actually be a day trip. Please help?
