Hi all, I'm new to couponing, and since this is the Maryland group, I was hoping y'all might have some guidance on how to proceed with couponing in the Wheaton/Silver Spring area. I've signed up for the Washington Post, which I JUST got this past weekend (YAY for Sunday circs!) and I went through the coupons, but how do I know when stores in my area (Giant, Whole Foods, Safeway) are doing double-coupon days? I even called a bunch of my favorite companies and have happy little coupons waiting for a good sale, but I can't figure out how to predict WHEN is a good time to buy. Also, just to make my life more interesting, I keep kosher, and we try to eat organic... so I can't really switch up brands TOO much (must be kosher!) in the food end of things. Anyway, any advice on how to predict sales, or where you get your coupons from, aside from the Post, would be FANTASTIC!! Thank you!! |

Hi, first thing you should do is get Giants, Wholefoods and Safeways coupon policy. Most stores have them on their website, If you can't find them there then you can email customer service and they should be able to email you a copy. Also ask them when and if they double coupons not alot of stores in Maryland double coupons. once you start paying attention to sales you will notice that items go on sale about 6-12 week cycles. If your brand loyal then keep a price list of the store price and sale price and each time you see it on sale right it down within a few week you should be able to tell when it gets to the lowest price thats when you what to stock up on that item until the next sale.... when your ready to shop just look up coupon match ups for the store that your going to. start off small don't think that your gonna save a ton of money like they do on the tv show. you have to be realistic, it takes time to learn each store. and to wait for the sales. I get my coupons from the Baltimore sun on Saturdays and on fridays I get my counties paper the Aegis and they have coupons in it too. Also you should get a subscription to All you magazine it's only available at walmart so a subscription is better that mag. has a ton of coupons in it every month. you might want to print out a coupon insert schedule too just google it... it will let you know how many inserts are gonna be in that weeks paper so then you can judge how many papers you will get for that week. I hope this helps Happy couponing. |

Thanks!! I did hit up Giant and saved a few dollars on pasta (about 0.75/bx for 16 bxs), but yeah, I don't expect to walk out the door tomorrow with $600 in food for $0.50. But ok, your post helps! I appreciate the guidance! |
