So I shopped Martins last Thursday around 1 pm, and found *great* deals with the yellow stickers on a variety of meat (all very fresh, and now in my freezer) Does anyone know when they generally do this? Mark the meat down? Or is it random? Thanks in advance! |

Some of the ones near me, have them ALL the time. Others vary rarely. I guess it depends on each store and how quickly they go through their product. Just an FYI... ANY product in the store with a "special" today, yellow sticker on it, will not match up w/ a Q if you try to use one with it. Sometimes, if its just one item, I pass up b/c of the aggravation of having to have a manager called over and holding up the line. You are allowed to use a Q, if it applies, its just that the register now only recognizes the item as "special today" and no longer what the item actually is. HTH.

I've noticed that the special todays are usually meat that are expiring that day or after a holiday they have alot of one type of meat left over. when i went to martins on monday they had many of their porterhouses marked down, i guess because of leftovers from the holiday weekend. this is just my guess though

I have been trying to figure out if there was a certain day or time of day that they mark them down for months now LOL! I think pp is right though. I always make a point to keep my eyes out for them whenever I go through the meat dept.

At my store they do it in the morning, then by afternoon if it isn't sold, they reduce it again. If it has a yellow sticker, and it is late afternoon, ask them if they are going to mark it down again. (The lady that works in the meat department told me to just ask) They would rather sell it marked down than send it back.

Ask your butcher, they are usually very friendly and helpful.
