Well, Marsh changed the doubling policy Only one double per like Q. It just happened this week, according to my cashier, who was disgruntled because I insisted that she take off the four items and Qs that wouldn't double. She didn't tell me about the change until I saw what was happening on the screen. She called the manager, who went ahead and doubled them on this transaction to make things easier, I guess. Marsh is doing itself harm with this new policy. I only shop there because they double, and they only double up to .50, and never triple. Now, I will do a lot more price matching at Walmart, and probably make more trips out of town to my very coupon-friendly Kroger and Payless stores. I called corporate to express my thoughts, but got voicemail. I hope they return my call - I only said I wanted to speak to them about a company policy, didn't say which one. Terri |

Our local marsh store almost never has deals that make it worth going in there, except sometimes on produce. I almost never shop there, and when I do the store is always empty

I had pretty much stopped shopping at Marsh, too--after over 20 years. Then I decided to try a couple of the deals there and things were okay. So I did more, and it was even better. THEN I got one of those $5/$30 and went in and got 25 vitamin waters with the .50 q (doubled) and 2 half-gallons of Oberweis (best milk in the world, and on sale 2/$5) and it was all FREE! But even more exciting was the cashier was the best. Super quick, efficient, not one problem, question, raised eyebrow--nothing. If you're ever in the Castleton area--hit that Marsh (although Nora is pretty good, too). |

Yes, I did speak with corporate, pretty much saying what I said in the original post. The person I spoke to wasn't in charge, but promised to pass the message to the "powers that be." Well, she must've done that immediately, because the manager of my store started trying to call me THAT DAY. He was very kind - I expressed my thoughts without sparing any punches. He said that although my cashier said this was a new policy, it actually isn't, but they had just received a message from the company to start enforcing it. He said that the multiple doubles happen when the cashier scans the Qs too quickly. (I don't think that's right, but didn't argue it.) He thinks that Marsh coupon policy and Walmart's are about the same. I said no, WM doesn't double, but without Marsh doubling, I can shop for less at WM, or drive out of town to Kroger. He then said he wanted to tell me 2 things that might encourage me to shop Marsh anyway: 1. They are going to try to price more competitively. I said I was glad to hear it - this might help. 2. My store is going to be remodeled this fall. (Although this will be nice, I will not shop there just for modern appearance.) And that was about it. Sometime soon, I'm going in to purchase 2 of the same item with Qs just to see what happens. Could be interesting. Thanks for asking how it went, and good luck with your stores! Terri |

Well, I finally did a little test. I went to the store with 2 like Qs for the Sunny D Marsh had on sale, knowing that if the 2nd didn't double I wouldn't say anything. Got the same cashier who refused the doubles the first time - guess what? They both doubled. Humph. ![]() Now I need to test a slightly larger multiple, .

I've found that the double policy differs store to store and cashier to cashier. Marsh's prices are high enough that I don't even bother anymore. I wait for a Kroger sale or get stuff at Walmart. I'm not wasting my time with them anymore.

There has been no policy change...it is the cashier trying to enforce something. Every Marsh I ever go to doubles unlimited.
