| Strange Coupons at MB in Burlington
I'm curious if this is a normal Market Basket thing - maybe somebody can explain what is going on? At the Market Basket in Burlington, MA today, I saw a large display of Kraft Handi-Snacks 6 packs. The sticker on the box says 2/4.00. The sign above the display says "$1 after coupon", and a lot of the boxes had coupons taped to them (and some coupons as a tear-off on the front of the display). What's strange about this display is that the coupons weren't in any way related to Handi-Snacks! They were manufacturers coupons for Nilla Wafers or some kind of cream cheese. I was curious enough to see what would happen at the register - it rang up as $2, and then the $1 coupon. In hindsight, I should have asked what the deal was with the unrelated coupon, because now the curiosity is killing me! Has anyone seen this before? Are they just reusing old coupons for their own in-house sale? Why not just change the price that it rings up as rather than wasting time taping coupons to the boxes? |

I have seen this before usually if it's the same manufacturer. Kinda weird!

They do that alot here in NH. That way the store makes money on the Qs used. Its is odd becauce its not for that product. My store will also let you use the coupons even if your not buying all the products. EX: 1.50 off of coke and ritz. you dont have to buy the ritz. I know its not right but if MB says ok I will do it.

I haven't seen this, but Market Basket likes to do its own thing sometimes. When in doubt always ask at the courtesy booth to be sure that the deal will work.

I have seen it a few times. I am surprised they haven't gotten in trouble with it.

Glad I'm not alone! At the new store in Bourne yesterday, they announced Pop Tarts are only 50¢ with the coupon they were standing there handing out. SO I got a few boxes and went to checkout. As I'm passing her the coupons, I realize they're for $1 off 2 Kelloggs Nutri Grain bars! I felt very uncomfortable, but the manager handed them to me for Pop Tarts and the cashier didn't blink an eye! Weird. This was my first time at a Market Basket. Almost like they just fine with using any coupon as long as it's the same manufacturer.
