i heard the new one will be opening in June not sure of the date but as far as I know the old one is still there. I went last weekend

According to my husband it is supposed to open on the 10th. I can't wait. Three years he has been driving down there and he was stuck there all day Saturday because they are behind.

Ok, so I saw on the news about the store opening.... Why were there SOOOO many people there that they had to close the store periodically? Were the giving stuff away or what??

Hi, I had the ad....and there really wasn't anything that great....certainly not worth waiting in line just to get in. I still haven't been there and I work across the street! The lines are still CRAZY. I know they opened a cafe and bekery and there were rumors they were giving away a car. I'll try later this week and post this weekend on my finds.

I went later on Sat about 6 pm. It was fairly busy but not outrageous. Had no problems with standing in line and not long at the deli either. I think the lobsters were the big hype ,, I find going later on Sat afternoon is better because you skip the mayhem and most times get both weeks sales, My biggest dissapointment on Sat was the girl missing my 55 cents q but I do not believe it was related to the new opening at all because for the past 2 to 3 weeks they have been short changing me on one of my q's. All and all from the stores in my area I don t think on most items you can beat thier prices at stop and shop, shaws and johnnies foodmaster, for except maybe double q items. I could be wrong.. By the amt of the posts in these forums it seems that alot of people shop at shaws and stop and shop and I am surprised by that.. Is it that they just don t talk much about Market Basket .. I dunno or is it that there are not that many new englanders here posting .. I will be sure to look for you Moving2fla, I am sure i will recognize another fellow crazy coupon person, I do n't see too many people with q's when I go there.

I went Sunday afternoon and it was packed! So many people that the fire department threatened to close the store.

The produce was fresh/beautiful and the meat was cheap! Specials I went for were:

Large 101oz. tins of EVOO: 9.99! I never see this for under $15.
Lobster: 3.99/lb the best price I've seen ever
Deli roast beef: 3.99/lb
Old spice deoderant: 1.00 and with insert coupon FREE
Broccoli rabe: don't remember the price but cheap

I'll probably go back for meat and veggies.

I love Market Basket, and I'm happy this opened. The one in Somerville is kind of hard for me to get to and I don't get their circulars to compare prices.

I was excited about this opening as well and knew I should wait a bit to let the crowds die down. A nice thought but the place was still absolutely packed and if this one in Chelsea is like any of the other Market Baskets it will stay like that!

I must say, I felt the same way about Shaw's and Stop and Shop before coming here....now I'm a Shaw's Fan also....and Stop and Shop--sometimes.
