Ok, I have not worked since I was preggo with my 2nd child. She will be 4 soon...I feel like I need to go back to work(not having enough $ drives me crazy)...and I don't know where to start and what to do. The main reason I stayed with my dd has been so we could save money on daycare...but now I feel like it won't be too long before she starts school...and that am looking forward to...it was never my plan to be a sahm but that's the way it worked...I can't do anything from home - she's very needy or at least I feel like she has become that type of child because am with her 24/7. I also have a 14 year and the thought of her being home by herself after school - makes me nervous...of who she might let in the house while we are not home and all...we just don't have reliable ppl we can trust or count on...so that part of it - it's more difficult. I used to work 3rd shift for 3 yrs when I had my 14 yr old but had to quit/moved to florida and was also sick at the job with migraines that still hunt me till this day. we have been getting by with just one income but it's been very hard. Trying to think of a part time but then daycare will still be expensive...also thinking maybe a job early in the morning so I be home for when the oldest gets out of school...I think I have thought of every possible scenario but to no avail. I applied for headstart and they told me that the process is very slow. She's on the waiting list. Florida has a program called vpk(voluntary pre kinder) but she won't be able to get into it till august 2012...can't wait that long...urgh!!! I'm sick and tired of ppl in my family thinking that I don't want to work and that I am using my children so that I don't have to work. I welcome your ideas/suggestions...help please. tia!!

I feel the same way. My dd is in 1st grade now, but that was definetly my case when she was smaller. We are a one income family also, and yes, it is hard, but the most important is luckily enough paid for; bills, food, etc. But, we hardly have any for ourselves after bills. I also wish I had a job, what is there to do all day? If the house is clean, kids at school, dh at work!? Yes, the day care waiting list is awful, they usually give 1st priority to those who CAN afford to pay for it CASH. I hope it works out for you and your family hang in there, don't lose hope. If you are near any job placement resource center maybe they can help you there. I guess every state is different, but like here in TX a local one I've gone to, helps make resumes (if you don't have one) besides helping in job placement. HTH, Good luck to you!

I am working from home for 1-800 flowers and I love it. It is wonderful. It is seasonal for holidays such as mothers day, valentines etc. But you do have the opportunity to become fulltime.

| Just go to the 1800flowers website and scroll towards the bottom right. Click on employment opportunities the work from home postion is at the bottom of the list. It says you have to live in certain states to qualify.

Have you checked Craigslist? Some of the jobs are scams, but you never know what may pop up. For example, I found a survey for people of a specific 'type' -- I get $60 for every survey I take, up to $240 over 8 months. That example is small, but there are often 'part time office work' type jobs up on my local Craigslist that don't require a ton of past job experience -- in fact, I think they would appreciate a SAHM because then you're SURE they know how to multitask!

I am a mother of 4. My youngest 2 are 9 year old twins. When they were 2 i thought i might go crazy if i didn't get back to work, but what to do? DH works 2nd shift, there was NO way i was going to put 2 toddlers in day care, the cost would have been ridiculous. With the support of my DH i got a job openning shift at a local coffee shop 2 or 3 days a week. I would get up o'dark thirty and go to work, he got the kids off to school, hung out with his toddlers for a couple hours and i was all done by 10ish so he could nap if he needed to before his shift. The hourly pay wasn't great, but i made out well in tips, made some great friends, and saved my sanity as well as supplemented our budget a little. Don't think to hard in terms of a great big job...do something fun for now. I would totally do the same thing over again if i had the chance!

Our local arc has a program called respite care where you could pick up a couple hours a week or more assisting a special needs parent. You either take the client out on trips or errands or simply be in their home so the parent can get a bit of me time. Most hours are very flexible and it's a great opportunity!! No I'm not one of thoooose couponers!!! |

I work for a company named Grocery Smarts and we offer free in-home classes in California, Utah, Nevada and Idaho. We have contracts with certain local newspapers to offer HIGHLY discounte multiple Sunday newspaper subscriptions, and make a pretty decent commission from the newspaper sales. Our instructors are averaging around $100 in commission per 1 hour class taught. If you live in one of these states and are possibly interested in becomming a certified instructor, PM me and let me know. (There is NO startup fee.)

For any who are interested, I know of a place that is looking to hire 500 people in the near future. They are called FIS. It's a call center, but nothing bad. I just got a position there and will be starting work March 26. They have sites all over the USA. To find out more, visit their website, then click on careers. You'll click on the type of job you are looking for as well as the state and city. There is another question you have to answer {part of the search criteria, but I can't remember what it is}, then you are ready to search. You can apply online. Once hired, you get paid training and after 90 days, you receive all your benefits {medical, dental, vision, etc}. Hope this helps!!

I am not sure what part of Florida you live in but my company has over 3,000 jobs posted daily. I don't want to post too much info (don't know rules!) but part time is an option for some roles and they will hire entry level - with daycare reimbursement, tuition reimbursement, all kinds of great benefits. PM me for info! The WFH roles are usually in more advanced jobs but PT is a great way to start and only spend 20 hrs a week there ya know!
