Yes Kelly I know what you mean, that wouldn't be so nice....advertising for a price...but in return for something he or she needs, or something just like stamps or whatever, they may want to get in return...

Good idea. Maybe for each hardiness zone. ![]() |

Raspberry bushes are thorny and grow about waist high. They spread on runners, so you have to keep them thinned out and in the area you want them in. They get cut back yearly because the raspberries only bear fruit on new growth. You should have fruit within 2 years, sometimes the first year... and they are YUMMY!! HTH I will keep PM's in my inbox from anyone interested so I can keep track. I'll PM back right before I'm ready to send them.

I'm thinking a flat rate priority or at least a small box priority mail. If you send clippings or bare root.

Thanks Kathleen for explaining them to me....now I know...I think this is going to be an excellent site...sounds like there will be a lot of people who will join in... another idea, when someone posts they should also mention what the weather is like where they are at, like for me here it is 32 degrees now, to cold to do anything right now....

Zone 5 here! I am OK with paying for the shipping when I send. I think if we all plan to give/receive it will all work out in the end. More volume but lighter (houseplants) will make up for heavier items (bushes, bulbs). At least that's my opinion anyway...

Kelly, you might want to sticky the USPS rules and the hardiness zones. I can make the threads if you want. That way people would have them for reference if needed.

OK, I was only gone overnight and missed out on the new exchange! I love the idea of a seed/plant exchange! I have so many seeds, always saving and bulbs that need to be divided...AND no white iris! LOL I am interested in heritage/passalong plants and the stories behind them. I collect some bulbs from old homeplaces that are grown over, ask for cuttings from neighbors, sneak a cutting from the sidewalk (only if it is hanging over on the public part of the street.) If you have a Master Gardener group in your area or a Garden Club that can be a great place to start out, they usually have sales a couple of times a year as a fundraiser. The question about old seeds is a good one too, I have planted seeds from my grandmother's that I found in her button box, didn't all germinate but over half did and that was 15 years after she had passed away! Kelly count me in...as for the names, how about the Garden's Bounty Traders, Cutting Thyme, Seeds for Stamps, Mailbox Gardeners, Seeds in the Mail, or any variation of any of them.

I completely missed this thread and I would love to join in. I am in Zone 7 and don't have a whole lot of slips as yet. But I would love to get in!
