You can totally ignore that e-mail and still get your free subscription to Ebony.

You got that e-mail because on the sign up page there is a check box that says, "Yes! Sign me up for MagazineOpinions.com where I'll earn free magazine subscriptions and cash for sharing my opinions!" but it's not a required check box so it'll be fine to just ignore it.
