| My disappointing Lowes trip today
Well I went to Lowes Foods to get groceries and I was really excited about the free A-1 marinade, well I didn't get it free. A-1 marinade is BOGO this week so it makes it $1.53 each, well I had the $2.00 coupon that was referenced in the shopping list which would make it free, well they would not accept it b/c the coupon exceeded the retail price, before when I tried this they would override it for the price the item showed up. This is off of their coupon policy: Coupon value cannot exceed our retail price of the item; no cash back will be awarded. I didn't take any Do Not Double coupons but the cashier looked at each one carefully even after I told her I knew the rules regarding those coupons and I did not have any. |

I noticed that this was in the new wording of the coupon policy too. I wondered if they would just adjust the coupon down to the item price or if they would refuse it all together. Did it beep when scanned? Sorry that you had a disappointing trip!

I am sorry you were disappointed. I don't really know what happens to my coupons when I take them in as I use the To Go service. I do keep a copy of what I turn in and I can say that my total has always been(even yesterday) the same as the total on my account. I hope the best in the future for you! Patty |

Yeah it beeped when she scanned it and they said if they adjust the price down then they don't credit for anything b/c they technically did not honor the coupon.

Hmmm....to my knowledge, if they adjust the coupon price to the item price, they get reimbursed for the full value of the coupon amount anyway, so they are not "losing" anything. But of course, different stores, different cashiers, and different managers all seem to vary on this! Sorry you had a bad trip.

I had this same problem, but I had 3 of the coupons for $2/1 A-1 and so I got three. The honored two of them, but not the third because I only had 70-something cents worth of A-1 left to be covered by a coupon. So I basically got 3 marinades for 70 or so cents and I kept the third one. No price adjust for me either, but I was okay with that. I'm sorry you didn't get yours! Maybe if you went back and got two of them, your Q would "take," and you'd end up getting 2 for $1.

Yeah, I couldn't do that because the other Q's I was using ($2/beef wyb A-1) had to be on a 10 oz or larger A-1. The 10 oz A-1 steak sauce were $4.19 at my Lowes. But that would definitely have worked for the OP! |
