| Oh my aching head!
I've had a headache for two days now. this is NOT unusual as I do get migraines but this isn't a migraine as my migraine meds are not working. I tried everything, Excedrin, Tylenol, Sudafed Sinus and NOTHING is working. Does anyone know of any natural remedies (tea, herbs, etc.)? I came home from work early yesterday because of it and the stupid thing kept me from sleeping at night and it's still lingering (I had to call in sick for work today because of it). So ladies ... is there anything outside of meds that you do to kick a headache??

Have you tried a cold pack on your head? That helps mine sometimes. They make the stick-on kind, but a good cold cloth works just as well (even better if you have someone to "refresh" it when the coolness wears off). Chamomile tea is also good - it relaxes you. I find that a lot of my headaches are from stress, and having the pain makes me tense up even more. I feel for you, I had a 3-day headache earlier this week. They are NOT fun. |

I have some of that tea here so I'm gonna make a cup. I woke up with this darn thing yesterday morning and haven't been able to shake it. It's not as bad as it was yesterday but annoying enough. Hopefully I'll sleep through it tonight. I bought some Excedrin PM today.

I wouldn't use an *ice* pack, but just a cold rag. Then again, maybe this doesn't work for you anyway... The ice packs are TOO cold and don't help mine, a cool rag does. ![]() Have you tried taking Excedrine Migraine with a caffeinated drink (Mt Dew is my Migraine Drink of Choice). Something about the caffeine opens up the vessels or something, I read once. I hope you feel better soon! |

Excedrin Migraine makes me sick to my stomach. I have Imitrex for Migraines and I took a 100 MG tablet yesterday to no avail. I think it might be a sinus headache (my ears hurt too) but honestly, I don't have a clue. All I know is that my head hurts. I've had lots of caffeine today too ... nothing is working. It's VERY humid here so that might have something to do with it. Thanks )

When I have a stubborn headache, I alternate Excedrine and Goody's powders every 3 1/2 to 4 hours. I also have a little rollon thing from Bath and Body works that is for headaches, all it is really is essense of peppermint or peppermint oil, which is a natural remedy for headaches they say. (who ever 'they' is ![]() I hope you get some relief soon

It's just me and hubby (who is stuck at work). I wish my 3 furbabies could do it (hee hee). Anyway, hubby tried to rub my neck and shoulders yesterday and that didn't work. Maybe it just needs time ... who knows. I hate these things ... especially when my meds don't work!

Sometimes I get headaches like this when it's overcast or raining. My hubby to this day still does not believe that someone can get a headache from the weather, but believe me it is possible. I use good old Ibuprofen taken with a bit of caffeine. Sometimes it helps, other times it seems the headache just has to run its course. There's nothing worse than going to bed with a headache and waking up with it again the next morning. Good luck! I hope you find some relief soon! |

| I get a sinus headache whenever it is windy outside or we get a high pressure system in. For a sinus headache sometimes it helps to put a warm clothe over your eyes and forehead. Doesn't always work, but for me it usually does. Also, when I have a sinus headache(I am prone to them) a medication made specifically for sinus pain helps more then regular pain meds.

Haven't ever tried but I've read rubbing half a lime on your forehead works. Also a lot of headaches are caused by lack of fluids in the body. Drinking a big glass of water might help.

The best thing for me is to lock myself in a dark QUIET room. THen I use the cold pack and sleep as long as I possibly can.

Glad you're better, jenn!! I can't take Imatrex - makes me really, really pukey. My doctor gave me Maxalt, but they are $60 for 8 tabs WITH INSURANCE, so I only take them when I absolutely have to. They literally work in 30 minutes, though! |

| 30 minutes? WOW! My Imitrex takes about 3 hours to fully kill the headache. It doesn't make me sick to my stomach but it makes me feel very hot and flushy. My neuro gave me "Frova" which is like a 24 hour pill of Imitrex. I only take it during my period (that's when most headaches occur). No side effects and it prevents headaches that week if I remember to take it every day.

for me the imitrex tablets take about 2-3 hours. The nasal spray version is much better for me. It takes about 30 minutes or less. I tried the shot version...make me puke..and I wasn't too adept at giving myself a shot. When I get a headache that lasts for days...and I am in denial that it is actually a migraine...my Dr. has given me muscle relaxers..flexaril..I take a 5mg..knocks me out..but I wake up w/out a headache.

I wonder if the Imitrex nasal spray would make me sick like the pills... will have to ask the doc about that! Never heard of Frova. I took Topamax for about 6 months. Didn't have any migraines, but ended up at a neurologist because they thought I had MS. Turns out it was the Topamax. I stopped it immediately and within 3 days all my symptoms were gone. |
