I took Topomax too (before the Frova). It made me feel so dumb. I mean, I was not myself at all. I noticed it took me longer to put my thoughts together and I just felt so darn loopy from it. I got off of it right away and pretty soon thereafter, I was back to myself.

I know what you mean...I felt like I had to translate everything everyone said to me...Conversations were slow on my end!!!

Yep, same here. I also developed involuntary twitches, couldn't concentrate, lack of balance. Scary stuff!

I know this is too late but for next time, here's what I do b/c I also cannot use Imitrex.

Warm pack at the base of your skull
Ice/cool pack on your forehead
pure peppermint oil on your temples - DON'T get it in your eyes!~

If you can slowly eliminate caffeine from your diet, then you will have a MUCH better success rate with something like Excedrin migraine or a can of pop plus your favorite pain reliever when you need it!

I can't take Imatrex - makes me really, really pukey. My doctor gave me Maxalt, but they are $60 for 8 tabs WITH INSURANCE, so I only take them when I absolutely have to. They literally work in 30 minutes, though!

me too, I feel like my chest is caving in with Imitrex, but I LOVE Maxalt!!!! It works wonders, but is very expensive!!!

I am glad ur headache is gone. Heres what I do. take tylonal (sp?) with food even if it is just a slice of bread, it seems to help the meds work better- if it doesn't help in 45 min I take montrin, too. I use a neti pot- it puts warm saline water up ur nose and cleans ur sinuses, its gross but it works- u can youtube it if you want to - but trust me you don't. If you are weather sinsative the neti pot will help with that too. I also will put 2 spoons in the freezer and put them on my eyes.

so glad you're feeling better as well....an old time herbal remedy is Vicks vaporrub...a little bit rubbed on your temples and across your forehead works wonders! At my house, Vicks is used on just about everything, sore muscles, headaches, cramps, and colds!!
