therbel, huge hugs to you and your precious baby. Your hubby did awesome. The Drs will tell you it is common, which it is..but when it is YOUR BABY, it is scary as all get out!!! They do outgrow it and there are no long lasting ill effects from them, but they are scary. My precious 6 year old son has epliepsy, so I know what you are going through. Stay strong, we are all here for you!!! HUGS!

Good. I could care less if you don't sleep as long as that beautiful little girl is okay! That was mean, but true!

I had a convulsion from a high fever when I was real little too...freaked my parents out. They rushed me to the hospital, did the ice bath thing. I remember my father telling me how he thought I was going to swallow my tongue so he held it down only to have me nearly bite his fingers off. Of course, my tongue is tied tight and wasn't going anywhere. I can imagine how scared you might have been. Kids are resourceful little buggers that bounce back time and time again. A damp face cloth on my forehead still works wonders.

I just read your post therbel, I am so sorry! I think you are handling this a lot better than I would! I can't even imagine how scared you must have been! OMG!!! I will definitely pray for Eliza and will be thinking about her all night! And make sure you put her to sleep just in her diaper or in a light onsie to help keep her cool through the night. It's so scary with little ones, isn't it? They can't freakin tell you what's hurting them!

Wow, how scary! I hope she's doing better now. My friend has a child who would get these seizures with a high temp, too. Apparently it is quite common. She was told to give meds and a bath to try to get the temps down. She has since outgrown them. Hope the rest of your night is much less uneventful!

I don't think I would sleep either...I would be way too freaked out. Not to freak you out or anything.

| When things like this happen, it's good that you can keep your wits about you...kinda go into overdrive and deny your emotions for the moment and just deal with the situtation at hand. I can't tell you how many times I've had to set it all aside to count the minutes, administer the medications, call 911...but you do it because you know you can't fall apart for the sake of your child. It's after you come home and they are safe in their bed, all is quiet, that you completely break down...and it's OK to do that too. It is cleansing, a way to cope.

Completely understandable. I know the fear you are feeling. If it makes you feel better, sleep in by her. Some may tell you not to, but do what makes you comfortable. When my son had his first seizure, I slept on the floor by his crib for weeks...was the only way I could sleep. |

Thanks twinkie!!!! Just went in and checked, she still has a fever..... she has had a dose of tylenol and motrin... it still wont break........ Should we go back to the ER????? Wish I knew why she has a temp! |

Why not call the ER and ask for their opinion? Might be better for her to just sleep it off, but I would probably go to the ER just in case. I'm no help.

Just take a deep breath. You'll be awake until 12 anyways so that you can give her the next does, so just try to do something relaxing until then.
