My daughter (age 2) and I were outside the other day for about 15 minutes and we both got eaten up by mosquitos. The bites are now pretty swollen and red. The itching isn't bad, and DD doesn't seem to be bothered by the bites at all. But, they are SO red and look terrible! Her poor little legs! Does anyone if I can put anything on the bites to make the redness go down/away? Thanks!! |

any antihistimine cream should help... like bendryl.... it can also come in a spray... Should help reduce the general irritation of a bite... May want to check the label to be sure you can use it on a lil one.. I dont have any.. so I am not up on what can and cant be used all the time |

Ahh, poor little one! At least they don't itch! I get them the minute I step outside, I'm a draw for them! I haven't tried puing cream on them, but I will next time!

I use caladryl lotion. Works like a charm. I know quite a lot of people who have used it on their lil ones.

Caladryl and Benadryl lotion works good, again look to see if you can use it on a little one...or even Aloe spray..

It's probably too late for this now but I always put ice (or a cold pack) on bug bites as soon as I notice them on both me and my kiddos. They rarely swell up and almost never itch. Linz |

I discovered another use for Listerine mouthwash. If I put them on spray bottle and spray it on us when we're outside, the mosquitoes don't bother us. They must not like that nasty tasting stuff, too. I don't know if it works only for us, but those who get them free/cheap may try them, too. |

You can also make a thick paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the bites. It should help take the swelling down, and ease the itching a bit.

To late now, but I figured this may help the next time. take a cotton ball saturated with undiluted white distilled vinegar and place it on the bite. this works well on all bites. My dd had a spider bite last year the size of a silver dollar and nothing would get the swelling down or the heat out. The doctor told me to do this every 4 hours and by the end of the day it was almost normal. We did treat it for 3 days till it was gone.
