My mom has those symptoms when she is on chemo. Her doctors give her pain meds but they don't do much to help. Sorry you are going through this.

God bless you! I am a Cancer Survivor. I have been in remission since the end of 1999. I had about 6 months of chemo and then 5 weeks straight of radiation. One thing I learned is that if you have mouth sores (and I know I share this at AFC before), and are getting Adriamycin (as one of the chemo meds), suck on ice the whole time you are getting it, or suck on a popsicle. I never had one mouth sore. My oncologist had a fridge stocked with popsicles. I shared this with some others who already had mouth sores and when they tried this, they went away. If you ever need to talk, please feel free to PM me. It helps to talk to someone who has been there. Sending you hugs, blessings and best wishes that you will be feeling better soon. |

Hello angelwings, Welcome to AFC. Bravo for your survivor record - Hope that it continues. I lost my first husband to cancer (he was 39) - and my Dad. I have been an R.N. since 1961 - Retired six yrs ago. Specialized in Oncology since 1982. I do NOT have cancer but know how you feel. I have friends who are cancer survivors - Have seen a lot of people with cancer. I have other long-term dsiseases - Hemophilia, epilepsy, a prolapsed mitral valve, and lost most of the vision in rt eye (stroke). Got hepatitis C from all my transfusions about 12 yrs ago and was treated with interferon which some people with cancer get. It wore mo out. Can't drive anymore because of the epilepsy so I do what I can for the American Cancer Soc. with Coupons4cancer for the past three years. Also an active Volunteer in Relay for Life Committee and in annual and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. I think the things that keep me going are: - Love (DH, friends and familyt) - Some I have met online and in Coupon Clippers, CouponForum and here at A FUll cup. - Keeping busy - Coupons for the A.C.S. sure does that. The Miami Herald donates them - I have one helper (Adrienne) - a neighbor), and we send envelopes full of coupons out every business day for donations to A.C.S. - Another thing is faith. I go to synagogue services on Friday evening (our Sabbath eve) - and sing in our choir. I meet nice people there also. We sometimes have interfaith choral events. Had one on April 18th at a nearby church marking the first anniversary of the slayings of over 30 university students at Virgina Tech. ine in 2007. - And the final item is don't give up - When something happens, life will go on if you have the will!! - there is always an alternate way to get someplace if you want to go there!!!! I found all those ways and life is truly wonderful because I see it as such and make it so. I can look at the dim side if I want to and fret but what sense is there to that? There are so mant wonderful things happening every day!!! I get joy from them as they occur and when I look back on them so I have very little time to spend on things that will make me worry too much!!!! When it is time to worry, I will find time for that but not until then!!!! Keep up your good health - Stay busy - See friends and family, - do good for others, rest when you're tired and start all over again. God bless you and all who are cancer survivors!!!! Glad that you are herexxx ooo Linda

| Pain
I am trying to get a referal from my DR. to go see a neurologist. I went to a car show with my DH. I paid for it Sunday I have spent 3 days in pain. Don't know what is causing it. Dr's don't either. So I thought a specialist might know. Thank you for your concern

Wow. 3 time survivor. You are such an inspiration to us all!!!! I have only been thru the ringer once it was a long cycle but I made it thru. I too, had to take mega doses of chemo, radiation and then several surgeries, not just for the cancer. But, the reconstruction nearly killed me and I was stuck in the hospital for 3 months and then sent home with a big open wound to heal at home. At the time it didn't look very hopeful. But, I had lots of prayers going up for me and here I am. The doctors about gave up on me, but I have little ones to raise, so I had to stay after them. I took Coral Calcium while going thru the chemo mixed with prayer and got amazing results from the chemo the doctors never expected, because the type of cancer I had was very aggressive. I would recommend taking Coral Calcium for anybody it has tons of hidden minerals in it, as well to help you remain healthy. I too, have a lot of after pain as a result of the chemo and take neurontin/gapentin for random nerve pain. As far as my joints I have been told to take Glucosamine Sulfate 500, which I bought at GNC, but you can also get on sale most anywhere.
