| Secret to beautiful HANDS....
Okay so I am a nurse and wash my hands constantly... Lately they have been very dry and itchy. What do you use/recommend to use. What are your beauty secrets to having beautiful, younger looking hands? TIA

I like Satin Hands from Mary Kay too! And I really love to get a manicure! The cut cuticles and shaped nails really help.

Bath and body helps they have one that makes your hands feel like silk. They also have salt or sugar scrubs to help. I find it worse in the winter, but this year the weather has not been too bad, and I didn't need to switch gloves. The last few years I had to use either the aloe or the nitrite gloves. If I can figure out what someone at work has I will let you know tomorrow. Do you use the alcohol hand rubs? I find the more I use those the worse my hands get. Also, the paper towel has a lot to do with it. If your place of work has the old fashioned towels that are rough, they are worse on your hands. Carry wash cloths with you when you go on you rounds and dry your hands with them. Good luck. For a "quick fix" before you go to bed, use vaseline or bag balm, even bacitracin, and put an old pair of socks or gloves on your hands. In the morning wash as usual, and your hands will feel and look better.

I like Burts Bee Beeswax & Banana hand creme. Burts Bee has a hand kit that includes this creme along with 2 cotton gloves. First use the peach & willowbard deep pore scrub (its for the face and has to be purchased separately) to scrub your hands (you can scrub your face first and them scrub your hands) them use the hand cream and the cotton gloves. I do this twice a week. There is also a lemon butter cuticle creme that comes in the kit. It is about $13 from Burt's Bee.com or you can get it from most CVS. I love the foot kit also. If you don't want to spend so much money try mixing corn meal and grate castel soap together. Put in a container and keep in your bathroom. You can use this to scrub your hands and feet and your body also. Do it gently not like you are scrubbing your pots and pans the skin is very soft. After a few weeks your hands should be nice and soft. Use cod liver oil capsules also.

You can also give your hands a moisturizing treatment while you do any chore that requires rubber gloves. Just glob on the hand cream before putting on the gloves and rinse after you are done.

I was hoping that you were going to give a solution. As a florist my hands are in water all the time. I'll have to keep watching your post to see what is suggested.

I have suffered with eczema for years, recently I went to a doctor who gave me a script for Vanos. Its is an amazing product that you use for two weeks. I used it only at night and it healed my hands. I use Vaseline Intensive rescue throughout the day. I have purple surgical gloves that I wear when I cook so that I can wash my hands and not have to subject my skin to all the soap and water that creates more damage.

I love the Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Lotion. Or, Bath and Body Works Hand Cream. I put them on before I do laundry, at bedtime, after a shower or if I'm going somewhere where I will be driving for awhile. Good luck!

Try to find something with silicone in it, it wont wash off everytime you wash your hands! I like the sally hensen 24 hr protectant. Smells like oranges. Dh gets really dry hands too ( crack and bleed dry) and he swears by the corn huskers lotion ( I hate how it smells), has not had a problen since he started using it 2 years ago!

| Dry hands
I seen a program on T.V. here awhile back on why our hands look older then the rest of our body. They said there wasn't much you could do because we do not get enough blood circulation in our hand for the fact our arms hang down to our sides. In return the circulation is much less then the rest of our body. Anyway, Im a hairdresser so my hands are wet all day. Has anyone tried using the parifin wax with medicaided (sp) mixture. I don't think you would want to do it if your hands are really bad to the point of cracking and what not, but it really does help. You can also dip your elbows in if there real dry and you have a hard time keeping then clean. Some people rest on there elbows alot in which causes your elboows to get very dark. Anyway, i like some of you alls idea's. I like vasline then put on the gloves. Mine so far are doing fine because i been doing the hot parifen wax and i dip like 3-4 times at one sitting, then put the gloves on. I does make your hands feel very soft and much easier for you to clean elbows. Just had to put my two cents in. |

I love Neutrogena Hand Creme. It goes on a tad greasy but rubbed in is just nice and silky smooth. My hands are prone to snags and cracks in the winter, and this stuff works great!

Haven't read the whole thread yet, so forgive me if this has been mentioned: Don't forget to exfoliate your hands! I use a foot scrub on mine in the shower...it feels soooo good, and takes all the dead cells off your hands, so when you put lotion on afterward, they feel silky smooth and look younger! I also put baby oil all over while I'm still wet in the shower, and rub it into my hands every time. |

| You can find this stuff anywhere. CVS has it, both of our local grocery stores have it, target has it, and so does walmart! HTH! |

I've been dealing with hands that dry out and crack for as long as I can remember -- and I'm not in a profession where I have to wash my hands constantly. So far, the best I've found is Aveeno, though the Wal-Mart and CVS clones are just as good. Greasy stuff never seems to sink into my skin, and thinner stuff doesn't do much at all. This has silicone, and no fragrance. I tried Avon's Silicone Glove, and hated the smell of it.
