My DH doesn't want anymore children and this makes me want to ![]() ![]() . It's a very long story. I will try to be brief. When we met I had 3 children living with me. My 2 oldest children DS Andrew is 20 and DD Katelynn is 17 and they live in OH. Anyhow I had My DD alexa, Son Wyatt and Noah. DH Had his 3 children living with him. My Now DD Amy, DS Lucas and DD Hannah. Well we decided to be a family. So shortly after we got together we started trying for DD Emily. And after 4 months together I got prego with her. We had decided that she would be our own child together. When I found out I was having a girl I was upset because I wanted a boy. But my DS Noah was the only one of the children that wanted a girl. 21 weeks into my pregnancy is when Noah died. I almost lost DD Emily also from stress. I had a very difficult pregnancy. And to say it mildly not a very good pregnant person. When my DS died DH told me he wasn't going to get a vasectomy now. He would wait. And I was so relieved. Well DH told me about 15 months ago that he didn't want anymore kids. ECt, but I would freak out so he wouldn't get the Vasectomy. But we use no BC at all and DD is 3 now. I've been in counseling for over 1 year and have decided to get Birth Control. I don't want it, but DH is constantly pissed off at me for not getting it. I don't want the BC pills. Anyone on the Nova Ring? I might have spelled it wrong. Can you go in and just get one? Or do you have to go back? Side effects? And there this new one I saw on TV and it looks like a letter T and is plastic works like a diaphragm I think. Anyone have one of these? Any side effects? BTW DH says maybe he will change his mind but I don't think so. And I really wish he would consider trying for another boy, but I guess I will just cry instead. Sherry ![]() Thanks for listening |

i think the plastic thing youre referring to is an IUD, intrauterine device. it stays in your uterus to prevent pregnancies. i've heard about some negative side effects, like punctured uterine walls, but i don't know how often they occur.

also, i'm sorry that you are having a disagreement with your DH about something so big.

The one that looks like a T is the Merina (spelling?) I think. I dont have any experience with any method of birth control other than the pill and condoms. Can't help much. Friends tell me the IUDs are great though! |

I use Nuva Ring, and I love it! What all would you like to know about it?

i am in a similar situation. I may want more DH says no. He did't get fixed sooooo.... I just had an IUD put in, Mirena. It gives low levels to uterus only. No side effects like the pill. Takes five min in the office to put in. Effective immediately. Cool because virtually no side effects like the pill, but there are some. If you change your mind and want to have a child they just pull it out and you can conceive immediately. Plus most women eventually stop having their period with it. You can have it in for 5 years. You'd have to check with your DR. though to see if it is right for you. |

I've heard good things about the shots too, but I weigh too much for it. We do the pill and condoms.

I made my DH go in to get taken care of. The funny thing is that he did it in the winter and it gets quite cold here in MN. Balls tend to hide when it is that cold and he was in quite a bit of pain.

I have implanon. It's a low dose birth control that is inserted into my arm, by my armpit on the underside. All my OB did was numb the area and insert it under the skin! It was very cool actually. Good for 3 years and when removed, you are fertile again after 1 week. I love not having to worry about taking a pill everyday.

From experience with the shot, it is just not worth it! When I was breastfeeding my son, they would only let me take the shot or the pill...Since I had gotten prego while on the pill, I decided to take the shot! I ended up gaining over 40lbs in 3 months! I am still working on losing weight It is horrible! I would suggest the Nuva Ring seriously...it is effective, and has less side effects (such as weight gain, mood swings, etc.)!

Sorry I can't be much help on this subject, I just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you in this difficult time. My DH got "snipped" 15 years ago. I would like for my DD to use some kind of BC. She is 21 and thinks she "can't get preg" because she hasn't yet. I was telling her about yaz, she doesn't want the pill because she has a weight problem, and she is on meds for bipolar disorder. She doesn't want shots and her boyfriend doesn't like condoms. She is really not ready to be a mom, so I can only hope for the best.

I have had my mirena Iud for 1 1/2 years now and I love it!!! I was told that I should never have anymore children. Matter of fact they told me if I ever got pregnant again my OB would recomend terminating it. Well it was right after my DD was born and everything was so stressful (my health was so bad) that my OB told me to get this so that my DH didn't rush into a vasectomy. He also said that it is just as effective as a vasectomy. So now we have time to decide what kind of "permanent" bc we want. In the past I have tried pills and the shot and hated them both. No side effects with this and now I only spott a little each month. |

I have the IUD this is the second one that I have had. I had one after second baby and now after the third. I will use it again if DH decides that he does want another. He is also telling me no more and it breaks my heart everytime. I have two of my own and the last is ours and I was wanting a little girl so bad. I love my boys but want another girl. He just doesn't want one. ![]() I am sorry to hear about your loss and sorry that you DH doesn't want anymore.

Norplant is another version of the implantable BC. Implanon is much safer and has less side effects. The shots really aren't that good, if you want to have a baby in the future. It make take several months to be fertal again. I have a friend who was on the shot for over 4 years and is having a horrible time getting pregnant. Her OB says it is from the shot and that she used it for so long.

I used the Nuva Ring for several years after DD was born ...... It was great and I really liked it but got tired of paying for it every month ...... then I decided to get Mirena IUD I have had it less than a year ....I like it but It hurt SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH when it was put in (my uterus sits way up high ) it took about 25 mins for them to get it in I am telling you right now this sucker is staying in the full 5 years !! There are a few things I dont like about it ... I cramp and spot all the time but I am told it takes a little over a year to regulate so we will see ...... but other than that its fine

| Yes, it is one size...the doctor will tell you how to put it in and all of that, you wear it for 3 weeks and take it out for a week (for your period) I have lighter periods that last about 5 days! My weight has stayed the same, so no weight gain with it, and actually it made my mood a lot better! I love it, I would never go back to any other form of birth control!

I have the IUD and absolutley love it!! It takes all of 2 minutes for them to put near your cervex. Mines is good for 10 years, I have had it for 8 so far and if you decide to have kids it is easy to have taken out. I am horrible with shots and taking pills so this works best for me.

I know how you feel I have 2 kids and had pre clampia both times high blood pressure and swelling big time. I wanted to have another baby someday but its too hard on my body. So I got my tubes tied because I dont have insurance and I had medical card at time so they paid for it. I used to get the depovera shot before my last baby. It works good. I dont know about he nova ring but everything works differnet for everyone. If you have questions about depo shot Just let me know.

Here is my experience with the shot. After I had my DD I nursed and was told I could use Depo shot or low dose BC Pill, I chose the shot b/c I only had to get one every 12 weeks. I got a total of 4 shots, Oct 05, Jan 06, Apr 06, Jul 06. In Oct 06 I was scheduled to get another but didn't b/c we were going to try and have another baby. The entire time on the shot I did not have a period. Finally in Jan of 07 I got my period and it came every two weeks until June when I was given a prescription to regulate me. I am still trying to get pregnant and it has been a year and 7 months since I had my last shot. My new OBGyn and my family practice Dr both tell me that Depo is not a good choice. It works great for not getting pregnant but wreaks havic on your body when you get off. I hope this helps you. Good luck in your situation, I hope everything works out for you. |
