I have the same problem. It all started after having my first son. He is 5 now. I believe it has all to do with our hormones.

Most likely, it has to do with post-childbirth. :<} It should get better within a couple of months- your hormones are just readjusting.

Can be medications, stress, birthcontrol, hormones,diet-lack of essential oils and protein, scalp disorders, genetics, drugs used during the delivery if any, the list goes on and on.

my dr. told me it was from my epideral. i have very thin hair as well. it never completely quit, but did slow down i guess when she was around 1. my son is now 16 months and my hair falls out just when i walk across the room!! when i set on our couch, if i move my head around a bunch when i get up it is all over the back of the couch. always all over my pillow and i cover the floor and sink when i get ready. my mom bought me some shampoo that worked to thicken it up, but i can't afford it. i used it up long ago but i can ask her the name of it if you want me to. it came from sally's. pm if you want it. don't worry about it. you aren't going to go bald. i went to the dermatolygist and he noticed that my hair was super thin. tried to get me to buy some type of cream, but 50.00 a tube.... no thanks. my sister swears that taking geratol, yes the vitamins for old folks will make your hair grow like crazy!! she, a rn, said they are good vitamins for everyone. but if you are breastfeeding, make sure you check with dr. be4 you do anything.

Most women I know had this happen in the first 6 months after having a baby. Your hair doesn't shed very much while pregnant, so all the hair that you would have lost over the 9 months starts shedding later and so you're losing way more hair than you would have before. It definitely seems worse b/c of all the hair you did not shed while pregnant.

Yeah, after having both of my kids, the shedding started when they were 3 months old and lasted a couple months. It looked like I took hair clippers all the way around my hairline! Then it started growing back. It definitely has to do with hormones - when you are pregnant, your hair goes into a pattern of growing and not falling out. I think a healthy diet can make your hair, skin and nails feel healthier. And if you are nursing, you should probably still be taking prenatal vitamins.

Are you breastfeeding? That in itself changes the hormones making your hair shed. I was told not to worry about it because we all shed up to 100 hairs a day mostly due to breakage and hormones. Biotin is a great supplement for hair health and that Nioxin shamp/cond is supposed to help. I think Sally's has a generic brand that works just as well. It's super common to have all sorts of wacky things happen to your body after having a baby.

your mom is right hormones change after pregnancy and your hair can fall out (i got really hairy when pregnant all 4 times, and after it all fell off and my hair thinned)..as suggested u could have ur estrogen/progesterone and thyroid checked to make you feel better, but u r pretty right on IMO ..take care!

After I had my sons, my hair didn't start to shed till they were at least 4 months old. I bet it's just that!

As soon as I saw your thread title, I said, "I bet she just had a baby". Yes, post-pregnancy hair loss stinks. I had it really bad after both pregnancies and it didn't really start until about 3 months after birth and lasted for about 5 months.

I didn't start to "shed" until my daughter was 4 months old, and it last a couple of months. All my under arm hair fell out as well, and my pubic hair got thin too |

Mine shed like crazy after my daughter was born....the doc said it takes 6 months after the baby is born to even start coming out. I should let up in time. Mine did.

my doctor told me it takes 12 months for the hormones to readjust. Of course at that point I had an IUD inserted, which messed everything up again. I had it taken out, but I'm still waiting for it to readjust!!
