Does anyone else have a problem with their hubby running to the bathroom constantly? I mean to the point where he has barely come out and he is right back in? He gets up between 8 and 10 times a night! He has been acting like he is in a fog lately and very confused and crabby with the family I know it is because he is so sleep deprived! He did try a prescription about 3 years ago, but he had a bad reaction to it and won't try anything else! I am so frustrated!! I have to do all the driving if we go for more than about a 30 minute drive because I have caught him falling asleep at the wheel!! Sorry for going off, but I have gotten to the end of my rope! Any suggestions? |

Sounds like he has diabetes...have him go to the dr and get his blood sugar tested. It only takes a couple minutes. Does diabetes run in his family? Then again, maybe he has a urinary tract infection...but again, just have him go see a dr and they can check his urine for signs of infection, and then treat him for it.

That is exactly what is sounds like. Is he thirsty all the time? and does he complain about having a headache? Also look at the back of his neck and look under his arms around the arm pit, and if you see brown marks that look like dirt, that is a sign insulin resistance. I deal with diabetes everyday. My son and my husband have it, and when the doctor told me that my son had it, he had those brown marks around his neck and under his arms. When my husband was told he had it, he felt very funny, and he almost passed out behind the wheel of his company truck. Another thing to watch is what happens if he eats sugar, after about an hour, if he starts to get tired then that is another sign he has diabetes. He needs to be checked, not trying to scare you but diabetes can be dangerous. Ask him if he feet or hands go numb(i know i didn't spell that right), diabetes can attack your hands and feet. Also he can start to effect his sight. The test is a simple blood test. |

It could be an enlarged prostate. DH has to take meds called Flomax. Go to the doc and have it checked out. Perhaps he could get a different prescription. I guess when men get older, they have a harder time emptying the bladder. Sorry, I'm not an expert on the male anatomy. He used to go all the time, still does, but now it's only once or twice at night. He still has trouble sleeping through the night because he looks at the clock and then can't get back to sleep. Hang in there. I know how crabby one can get when one does not get enough sleep.

Sounds like diabetes to me too. My dh is a diabetic and we went through this. Make sure you ask for an A1C, not just a glucose level.

I used to do this right after my first kidney stones. I had the worst case of bladder insomnia. Half the time I was in the bathroom before I really woke up enough to know what was going on! I told my dad about it (he does what your husband does to this very day!) and he said that it started with him after he had his kidney stones. In a simple x-ray a doctor will be able to tell if he has any and that could be giving him a kidney infection.

He needs to be tested. It could be diabetes, kidney stones, bladder infection, enlarged prostate. It's so hard for a lay person to tell and some could be serious. Good luck!
