| Has anyone gotten sick after their flu shot??
We got our shots 2 days ago! I have felt terrible since yesterday-achy. The school called and I picked up Emma after recess-slight fever, aches and pains. Max is a mess but he also had his 6 months shots so I expected a fever and crabbiness from him.

Everytime I ever got a flu shot I ended up sick a few days later. I no longer get them.

Yep every time. If I have the slightest sniffle when I get the shot I get really sick.

I haven't gotten sick from them, but I sure do get a dreadfully sore arm (injection site) for the next day or two.

I have never had one but a lot of people I know seem to get sick from it. I take vitamins and I think I do just fine.

I have a better chance of not getting flu w/o the shot. For 3 years, got the shot, got the flu...next 5 years, no shot, one bad flu one light flu. I don't get one anymore even though I would with the public.

| Side Effects
Being achy and feeling ill are side effects of the flu shot. The CDC has a wonderful outline of information. Go to the the CDC (Center of Disease Control) and search for flu vaccination; here is the outline of side effects on the CDC site: What are the side effects that could occur? * Soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given * Fever (low grade) * Aches If these problems occur, they begin soon after the shot and usually last one to two days. I hope you feel better! Try tylenol or ibuprofen to help. |

I do not get sick from them but I rarely get them. The shot I got a few days ago was a small needle and I could not feel a thing.

Every time we got the flu shots we got sick. I told our doc about it and he said, we must have gotten sick before the shot was effective. Well, I think that is bull. We haven't gotten the shot for the past 4 years and we haven't gotten the flu in 4 years either.

I get sick every year, but I think that is the point. The flu shot has bits of 7 (I think) types of flu that may happen in a particular year. The point of the shot is for your body to attack the virus in order to be prepared for when/if it goes around that flu season. At least that is how I understand it.

My kids got them a few weeks ago. The oldest was very sick with flu-like symptoms the next day. The other 4 were fine. My DH and I will get them at his office on the 13th for $10 each. I hope you feel better.

I don't get sick, but my arm always has a skin reaction. Big nasty bruised welt and it aches for three days like someone stabbed me with a knife.

Funny how the majority of replies on here indicate experiencing flu-like symptoms as a result of the shot!!! I'm on that bus too. I've gotten 2 flu shots in my life. 1st time I was in bed for 3 days, 2nd was during my pregnancy cuz my OB demanded it. I don't recall the effects - was it pregnancy symptoms, shot symptoms or a combination??? I haven't had a shot in over 3 yrs and no flu in my house. A girlfriend got the shot 2 weeks ago. She got so severely ill that the Dr/hospital was just about to start testing to diagnose her with Multiple Sclerosis!!!!!! They finally concluded she had an insanely severe reaction to the shot. Honestly I'm surprised they even admitted that! If you don't get the flu shot you're warned about taking chances. If you get the shot many get flu symptoms! No thank you, been there done that, I'll take my chances

I feel a little worried now, I don't think I ever got a flu shot. DS has gotten his first round for the past 2 winters, but he hasn't gone back for the 2nd either time...he hasn't gotten the flu(well badly)....but we live with 8 people in the house and they all go to school and work so every month or 2 it seems like we all get sick with something! I wish it was just DH, DS and me so I'd be a little less worried =(

The only person in our family who's ever gotten a flu shot was our oldest DS, who actually got the Flu Mist. And yes, he got the flu a week later, and no he hasn't gotten one since. DH and I just never bothered, and we don't do one with youngest DS for *personal reasons*. (a rant which you don't want me to start, LOL) |

This year my injection site had a huge red mark and hurt for 2-3 days. I also had a fever the first night and felt run down for 2 days. I figure that's all because my body is fighting the virus, which is what should happen. It sure beats contracting the flu and being even more sick, even for a few days.
