Prescription I feel like I'm going crazy!

Sorry so long

So last thursday I went to urgent care because my ears were so clogged everything sounded like I was in a tunnel. While there my teeth started to ache, a dull ache but I mentioned it to the doc anyways. She said go hame take some claritin and call your dentist I thought this was a little odd since all my teeth and gums ached not one. made adentist appoint. though for he 18th. So I've been taking claritin for 6 days and my ears are fine but my teeth still feel the same and now I have a metal taste in my mouth. Called my dentist again to be put on canellation list and they said go over to urgent care and have them take a look. So I go back over to urgent care the doc says he's kind clueless but am pretty sure I have a sinus infection and since it has been going on for over a week we need to treat this with nasal spray once a day for the next 30 days and 875mg augmentin. I feel crappy my teeth hurt and YES I am a hypochondriac!!! with anxiety issues I don't like to take meds I'm not used to taking becuase I'm afraid I'll have an allergic reaction. So here's my ? When i take the augmentin if I was going to have a reaction how soon would I. I just want to curl up in a ball and cry! I haven't slept in 3 nights cause the baby is teething and she's miserable! Skylar started 2nd grade today and started riding the bus for the first time ( I drove him previously) And robbie starts full day preschool 5 days a week tomorrow. Oh and not to mention my dh works 100 hrs a week!!!!

By the way while I'm typing this Reigan just peed through her diaper onto my lap!!!!!!!

This sure is interesting, but I don't have a clue, did you have blood work done? Could you have a chemical imbalance? That would explain the metal taste in your mouth. If your labs are out of whack, you may need some different minerals.

Also, could it be possible that you are clenching/grinding your teeth at night? I do this to the point I have cracked my teeth and it can cause the symptoms you are describing, except for the metallic taste (unless you are grinding on fillings). The more stress in my life the more I grind and clench. Can cause ear aches, teeth and gum pain....

BUT there is a cold going around here that ends up causing ear infections, sinus infections....starts out sneezing, sinus pressure, stuffy nose, then ears stopped up and if the fluid in the inner ear. Can progress to sinus infection or ear infection. JFYI....(DD is home with it right now, slight fever, coughing, blowing her nose, her ears are stuffy, etc.)

Have you had a problem with antibiotics in the past? (ou can look online and check for symptoms of reactions that are common with augmentin, but if you have hypochondriac tendancies you might want to forgo this! )

Hope yu get to feeling better.

If you are allergic to any med, you should know within an hour or two (at least that is what I have heard).

I hope that you are feeling better VERY soon!

a reaction to the med would be pretty quick. I can tell you that when I have had a sinus infection, all of my teeth have hurt as a result.
I also grind when I am stressed and my whole head hurts.

I hope you get to feeling better soon!!!!

Do you think it could be a sinus infection? When I have one, I have an icky taste in my mouth ... can't describe what exactly it tastes like cuz my head is always so stuffed up and my ears all plugged up but I do get this weird taste in my mouth.

I hope you feel better soon :0)

I have a sinus infection right now along with all your other symtoms...nasty taste in my mouth and all. I only take Claritin but the problem is I am always taking it. Once I stop taking it I start it all over again. So for the past two years I have been addicted to Claritin and I really am sick of it!!! Plus it is so darn expensive...I also use a sinus rinse that really helps you may want to try that. Hope you feel better soon!

It can take sometimes 2 to 3 times of being on a medication to build up an immunity to it. The 3rd time I had my iron infusion, I had a cardiac reaction.... not fun! But I felt it coming. BUT I think with an antibiotic, it's faster.

I get ear problems from clenching my jaw at night and sinuses. Have you tried Tylenol Head cold/congestion, I use to swear by it!!!

Thanks. I have taken amox. before and haven't had any reaction actually I've ever had a reaction to anything. I just have a unrealistic fear of allergic reactions to meds. Just in my head my dh thinks i'm crazy but it's me. I think I'm gonna ask my doc about one of those pot things that you pour salt water up your nose

I was about to suggest that.

DH had a bout of recurring sinus infections. he would get better with a bout of antibiotics and then in 2 weeks it came back.....uggggghhhh

a CT scan of his sinuses was done by the specialist and it showed he still had the infection. he was given stronger antibiotics and adviced to use the neti pot or sinu cleanse to clean his sinuses once or twice a day. it did wonders for him. it cleared his infection, the post nasal drip he has experienced in a while has also stopped.

the neti pott is available at WAG or WM. I think most drugstores carry them, just ask. they may be called differently so just mention something to cleanse your sinuses and hopefully, the pharmacy tech will know what you're looking for.
