Hard to be positive when you are going through stuff like this, but so many people are rooting for your little one and you. Time to get yourself some good novels and magazines! Who will take care of your toddler?

That's the big uncertianty right now. He's staying at daycare until my next appt, but if I go on long term BR, I have no idea what we'll do. My leave will be unpaid until/if disabilty kicks in and there's NO WAY we can afford to keep paying daycare without me working. ILs may be able to help some, but they're so iffy. That question is my biggest sorce of stress right now.

with your MD's answers, he MAY not think of a worse case scenario. if you trust him, go by his judgment call. in OB cases, it takes just split seconds for the MD to make a decision which may mean life or death to mother and child. that is why it is important to find an OB you are comfortable with and whom you trust completely. just relax for now, you're 20 weeks AOG, I'm sure your MD is doing his best for you and the baby. sending positive thoughts your way. AOG = age of gestation |

Ok, I am sure your doctor has told you this, but on the off chance they did not let me say lay on your LEFT side. I had bp issues with my first and when I went into labor I asked if I could switch to my right side a while into labor and they agreed. I switched over and my bp shot up and the baby's heart rate shot down. They stopped my labor with breathine at that pt. With the twins I would get high bp at the end just by even standing or laying on my right side, so I laid on my left side a LOT. I have good bp normally so not sure what the deal was. I'm sorry because bedrest is not some fun vacay. Surfing the internet is no fun confined to one side. Also, the young child at home sucks for him and for you. I am glad you have an older child and husband to help you some and I hope they do. My son survived (I was not on bedrest but I had common sense enough to know if my b.p. could only be stabilzed at the doc's office by laying on my left side I needed to lay on my left side dadgummit). We moved the train table in front of the couch and watched t.v. way more than usual. Good news is this: when mama has hbp the babies lungs and organs tend to develop quicker.

Thanks! Actually, though, my doctor told me that it was not necessary to lay on my left side. He said I could lay down or sit propped up....whatever was most comfortable as long as I was off of my feet. Interesting that different doctors say different things. I've found that I'm more likely to get dizzy laying down than I am sitting propped up.

Kandikid is very wise. Never google anything when you have a challenge. No one writes anything good about a topic. My girlfriend was on bed-rest from the seond month during her preganancy. The result is she has a very healthy baby boy. P.S. Once again, (yeah Kandikid) she did an occasional (few sips of the) caffeine and it helped her headaches.

Kristi Where in SC are you? Not sure if you have it in your area but I have been looking into Kindercare for my niece there and I know they have at least a 3 year old program. I can't remember how old DS is but that might be an option for you. It is free and a lot of the programs have bus transportation so you won't even have to worry about dropping off or picking up. I know alot of the places are full but you might check it out and get on the waiting list to try to get him in. I sure hope everything works out for you. Still praying or you. and baby!

is there a Headstart program in SC? over here, they started a pilot project that takes infants so that parents can work. they have a certain income bracket to qualify. I have heard very positive feedback about this, check it out if you have it in your state. if you qualify, take advantage of it.
