Yes, the $100 Visa card gave me 400 points. And the $100 MC card also gave me 400 points. 5.95 ea activation fee, if I remember correctly.

I did the math, and minus the 5.95 fee each $100 card saves $8 if you buy the full 35 gallons. Gift cards would save more since there's no fee, BUT are harder to spend. So if I got 3 $100 visa cards, and filled up the full $35 gallons, I'd have cards I can use anywhere, and save $24 on filling up.

Those cards don't have a transaction fee or anything right just activation?

I fill my truck which is 20-35, and have 2 5 gallon gas cans, and a 3 gallon, to make sure I get my full discount. I bring the gas cans home so dh can fill his Datsun.

I wonder if Ralphs in Los Angeles has the promo going on too...we have $0.20/gallon if you earn more than 100 points...I was surprised bc we had been getting only $0.10. $0.20 doesn't sound much but we're paying about $4.25/gallon if not more and that's for unleaded

I can't believe this hasn't broken on AFC yet! My store has double fuel points for the summer, usual exclusions - tobacco, prescriptions. It's not even advertised on the bakersplus.com website, but it is in the ad & all the employees are wearing t-shirts with a huge 2X on the front. Started Wednesday (Tues is my shopping day) I am in the Central region. Anybody else this lucky?

Learned two important lessons today.

1. Visa cards roll.
2. Make sure you don't already spend some of the card when paying, and only have $35 left in the card...making it so it reaches it's limit, cutting you off at just 21 gallons and not the full 35.

I wanted to cry when it did that I figure with the fees on the cards I broke about even though, or saved a lil bit at least. Just a lot of trouble.

In Memphis area. VISA, MasterCard, and AMEX prepaid gift card never earn 4x points. It's excluded from earning any points at all. But I always get 1x point out of them.
$500 = 500 points.

That maybe the case. I never buy those fixed amount because the cost ($5.95) doesn't really offset the savings.

This hasn't started yet here in Mid-Atlantic. I checked my receipt from Friday and just checked my receipt from today. It's still regular fuel points on grocery purchases. Hopefully, we'll get double fuel points on purchases this summer, too! Even though it feels like summer outside, it's still spring according to the calendar.

This means that if I purchase $10 in groceries, I normally would get 10 fuel points. During the double fuel points on purchases that magpie23 was referring to, I would get 20 fuel points for my purchase. This is a different promo than the gift card promo.

Yup I used one $100 card to buy another, then another. Ended up with $2 savings in gas, $70 for 35 gallons. Then the activation charges are 5.95 ea so 29.75 total, but still get a savings on 35 gallons of $40. So while if you need to spend the 100 somewhere specific like eBay or amazon, that's the way to go but we don't make enough to have $500 in gift cards sitting around so losing that 29.75 in activation fees works out for me.

Well my calculation for savings are bit complicated. I have to take into consideration my AMEX blue cash preferred where I get 6% cash back at Kroger. Also I don't fill up to the max of 35 gallons, I max out around 26 gallons. After doing the math, buying the fixed amount is only a good deal when they are giving out 4x fuel points. I have many other stuff I take into too consideration which is way too complicated to explain.

4x fuel points:
$100 * 5 = $500 + $29.75 (card fees) - $30 (cash back from AMEX) = $499.75
$2 (2000 fuel points) * 26 (gallons of gas) = $52 + 0.25 (saving off card's face value) = $52.25 (total savings)

2x fuel points:
$100 * 5 = $500 + $29.75 (card fees) - $30 (cash back from AMEX) = $499.75
$1 (1000 fuel points) * 26 (gallons of gas) = $26 + 0.25 (saving off card's face value) $26.25 (total savings)

Regular:
$500 * 1 = $500 + $5.95 (card fees) - $30 (cash back from AMEX) = $475.95
$0.50 (500 fuel points) * 26 (gallons of gas) = $13 + $24.05 (saving off card's face value) = $37.05 (total savings)
