I just love Manager Specials at Kroger. They are items that are expiring soon that the store has marked down (meat, produce, bakery items). Today I got 3 tubes of Ground Beef (3lbs each) for only $1.99 each! So that is $0.66 / pound. Yeah! It expires tomorrow unless you freeze it -so I did.

One other great thing about Manager Specials is that if the price rings up incorrect at the register - which happens a lot because the cashier scans the original barcode and not the special sale sticker bar code - then you get the item for free. There policy is that if an item rings up incorrect - they give it to you for free! So check those reciepts.

I know, I get juice for my older 2 at great prices. Last week I got the 1/2 galloons of cherry limeaid for 50 cents.
I can usually get the organic salad mixes for 99 cents and hot bread for less than $1.

ours are few and far between but another kroger a few miles away always puts the organic stuff on mgr special.

I like the manager specials too. The only thing I don't like is they do not let you use coupons with them.

Ours are few and far between also, although they had some awesome ones last fall. I bought a ton of candy in September for dirt cheap (they were selling the fun size bags of stuff for 75 cents a bag!!)
Every once in awhile I will find a good deal on something, but our usually only has milk on managers special and we can't go through it fast enough yet.

I've been able to use coupons with these specials. Maybe it was just your cashier that day?

That is odd, I regularly use coupons on these items. They still get reimbursed for the coupon...you must have just had a fussy cashier.

I've been trying to determine the best time of day to nab the specials. Sometimes it's at night, sometimes it's morning. Has anyone noticed a method to it at all?

I think it was just my cashier that day. If I could have used my (4) $1.00 off coupons on the manager's special items with all my other coupons I did use my total would have been .59 cents and it started at 89.00. I think he was just jealious...

Today I racked up on the managers specials.

I guess the produce man had just marked items down before I arrived.
I bought:
1 head of lettuce 75 cents
1 box organic spinach 1.29
1 box organic baby green salad 1.29
1 bag of 4 yellow and orange bell peppers 99 cents
1 bag Roma tomatos 99 cents
1 bag of 2 oranges and 3 apples 99 cents

Then in Dairy:
2 half gallons of Disney orange juice 80 cents
1 half gallon of Tropicana Peach juice 50 cents

I was having company over for supper and used the salad fixings for that. I chopped the peppers and put them in the freezer. My kids will eat the fruit. My 2 oldest will wipe the juice out in no time.

Last week, I got a 5lb roll of ground beef for $2.00 on Manager special. My best find was this summer when I got 3 packs of Perdue Perfect Portions chicken for $.99 each.

REALLY!!!???!!??!!? My Kroger does! Which one do you go to? I know the one in Bartlett @ Hwy 70 and Appling allows it, as does the one at Stonebridge. "My" Kroger is in Arlington on Hwy 70.

I'm not sure what part of town you're in though. That STINKS that they won't let you use Qs!!!

I just bought a veggie tray today (40 oz...BIG) that was originally $13.99, on MGR special for $4.59...and I had a $3 off Q, so it was $1.59! So, I got a tub of low fat Ranch dip, baby carrots, cut celery, cherry tomatoes, and broccoli for that price. YAY!

ETA: I also got 2 half gallons of 2% chocolate milk on MGR special today for $.79/ea. And the sell by date isn't until March 1st!!! I am still trying to figure out why in the world they were marked down already...not that I mind, of course!

Manager Specials at Kroger ..... I guess all the stuff gets snached up at my kroger cause I never see it

I have always had luck getting mgr specials in the morning right after we drop Eli off for preschool and another time I noticed a bunch one night and a manager told me that's b/c he did it a lot at the end of the month...of course that was on FEBRUARY 8th. It's a vegetarian's dream, though. They always put veggie dogs and veggie crumbles on mgr special.

mommy2huddy, I don't know the rhyme or reason but I have gotten half gallons of organic milk for .99 before and it was well in date, too. Maybe they are just encouraging frequent trips. I think the guy in the refrig. section, the produce man, and the freezer section man all think I am whacko for bringing in 2 or 3 kids all the time. It's like they are suspicious...not that I am stealing, but wondering why in the heck I don't consolidate my trips or something.

Be careful about formula on manager's special. I found a bunch of the big cans of Kroger Formula for $4 and danced all the way home. No big dents, not expired. But after my son got some bad intenstinal cooties that my dr said wasn't the flu, I brought the formula cans in to her office to figure what was wrong. Turns out that some of the can lids were lifting away a little causing the formula to be compromised and I didn't check or notice. Since it is against health policy to sell damaged formula, let's just say I got a huge apology gift card from Kroger.

So, don't be dumb like me, thoroughly check reduced formula!
