Unhappy ISO Couponing Big Sister! Lol!

I have had my head buried in coupon reading for two weeks now.
Mind you, I'm a smart girl.. But this stuff takes my reading comprehension down to zero!

I haven't been picking up Sunday Papers yet... But I have been hitting up Shortcuts, Cellfire (Once. The page never loads on my comp.) and printables..

The absolute best deal I have been able to put together is...

4 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls @ 1.69 each
-.40 Shortcuts
-.75 Shortcuts
-1.00/2 Printable
-1.00/2 Printable

OOP = 3.55 (.88 ea)

Oi. I'm really shocked that's the best... and currently ONLY... deal I can come up with. Everything else really seems like a couple of dimes off an expensive sale price - things I can get cheaper by buying store brand.

Help?

You'll get it! Try going to the forum for the store you shop most. Don't be afraid to ask questions there, or pm people. You will find that we love to talk about how to save, and remember feeling overwhelmed in the beginning as well.
HTH!

Thank you! I <3 Kroger and from what I've read, "mastering" one store at a time is the way to go.

I keep hanging around then! Maybe a trip tomorrow to pick up the sweet rolls will get me inspired.

LOL - I am completely surrounded my personal notes, coupons, and a headache. I just realized the HUGE mess I've created!

I'm really new to the coupn thing and you know what I do for now....I pack up my son, take my coupon box and spend some time just walking around the store.

I read the deals here for the store I'm heading to. That way I have some idea of what to look for.

I KNOW what's in my box and while looking around I find some really good deals that way.

I've found really cheap and some free stuff this way and it's not soo overloading on me. But, I do end up spending about a hour walking around the store. I try to his the bakery about 20 mins in for some FREE cookies for my "cookie monster" who rides along with me.!!!!!

You'll save money with IPs, but you'll do better if you pick up a Sunday paper. I started off only buying the paper when I thought there would be coupons I would use, but the trick is to have the coupons when the sale happens. The sale usually happens a different week than the coupon comes out. I started with Kroger and Tom Thumb (Safeway) and you'll be able to put together some great deals by combining store coupons with manufacturer coupons. Free items won't be super common, but you'll get some.

I start with 2 things...the ad and my list of what I NEED this week

when I look at the ad, I am looking for items that are on sale at good price points...you need to know when you are seeing a deal price...there isn't much this week at GOOD prices for stocking up, so I would just get what I need

when I look at what I need, I am trying to see if any items are on sale

THEN, I look to see what Qs I have or can get to make the sale even better!

look at the Kroger shopping list to see what Qs match with the sale prices...it will include links that tell you where to find the Qs

the only things at 'stock up' prices for me this week...
- pork chops $1.27/lb, I have $1 Qs, so will be looking for small packages that I can get for < $1
- OJ, milk, choc milk...10/$10 is good price for this area
- Post cereal or Nature Valley [extra $4 off when you buy 4]
- sirloin tip steak, $2.99
- Campbell's chunky soup, 4/$5
- Aquafresh [maybe FREE with Qs]

the rest are OK prices or I've seen better...so I would only get what I need to cover the week

Thank you so much!
Buying the paper is now on the agenda, as well as getting a flu shot so I can spend extra time in Kroger.
Today's goal: Organize all these Q's so Sunday's don't become more overwhelming than they will be anyway.
