Last night while shopping, I went to a cashier, instead of using the U-Scan like I usually do. I noticed the cashier was "stockpiling" in one continuous tape a lot of Catalina coupons. When my order was done, he did not give me my coupons, so I politely asked for the coupons. He gave me all of them. There were about 10.

I have seen the cashiers at the U-Scan collect the ones that people leave, and place them in a pile. Not sure if they take them home themselves, or trade them. This happens almost every time I am at Kroger.

Yeah, Kroger is bad about not giving you your catalinas unless you ask for them. What's even worse is when they don't even bother replacing the tape in the machine so they don't print off at all. I try to peek and see if the catalina machine is printing for the person in front of me before I get in a line.

At my store, if the person leaves them at the u-scan, the cashier wads them up and puts them in the trash. The regular lanes are usually good at giving them to the customer with the receipt. Not many complaints with my store, luckily!

I joked and asked the cashier one time about that and I was told they were not allowed to keep or take home the catalina's....but who knows???

Oh no! I've read about this happening to other people too! I'm always staring at the Catalina machine to make sure I'm not missing out, but luckily it's never happened to me before.

I was waiting for the U-scan and there was one with several cats hanging out...another one opened and the cashier tried to direct me...I said, 'no, I want this one!'

I was a cashier years ago and if someone didnt want their catalina or if I forgot to hand them out I simple held onto them till someone came thru the line that could use them and offered them to that customer - I've always been a couponer and if I can help someone else save I'm glad to do it. Of course back then catalinas were new and they werent of much value!

Once I glanced behind the u-scan machine from the other side (I think I was in the express lane) and saw WADS of these that had built up behind the scanner. I wanted so badly to ask if I could just reach down there and grab a bunch, ! I need to remember to peek next time I go. I've noticed them laying around at the regular registers too. A couple times I've asked the checker if I could have them and they were like, whatever . One time I got a $1 oyno! People just don't care I guess......

People don't care. They have no idea what they are for and rarely take the time to find out.

I wish I could get in a line that had been piling up. I'd so ask for all of them.

Cashiers don't take coupons home or trade them, it's against Kroger policy to keep any coupons!

I always ask for the catalinas stranded by previous customers. And sometimes the customers will leave them next to the bagging area, I'll grab them. I see the cashiers throw them away anyway.

hadn't gotten any in a month and at kroger shopping twice a week. last nite i asked the manger standing by the register why none has come out lately and she said they come and go. went back in there today to get something and while i was checking out notice about 8 or 10 laid by the register and ask the girl checking me out if i could have them she said yep and then i notice a couple rite next to her by the register didn't get a good look at them but look like they had toys r us on them. asked her about them that was next to register and she said they was no good.

I always take my daughter with me shopping because she finds stuff everywhere!
Today as we left the Kroger crash register she walked by a table that had 20 catalinas just laying there.

I went through them but could not see any I needed.
I never get them because I always shop for deals only.

Can I use someone else anyway?
Are they somehow tied to your account?

The catalina's are not tied to your kroger card. my mom and me trade a lot of times. What I want to know is, is the catalina machine just for coupons for the customer, or does something print out for the cashier sometimes too? Because I have seen the cashier take something that spit out of it and just set it on the other side of it where I can't see, I Just figured sometimes things print out that they need to put in their register so I didn't want to ask about it!

The regular cashiers at my Kroger always save them for the customer that use coupons for their transactions. They figure if you used coupons, you want the Catalina's.

I know at my store, the cashier's offer the catalina's but many customers don't want them. When I go through, sometimes she has a whole stack of them and I get the whole jackpot - the cashier's aren't allowed to take them home for personal use. I also look at the back of my receipt. There are adds and coupons for local businesses on the back of the receipt. I once got haircuts for my whole family with buy one/get one free q's from the back of the receipt!

My Kroger gathers up all the catalinas that have been left and they have a coupon swap basket at customer service. That's where I head first when I shop there!!!

Since I only buy bargains usually I never get catalinas?

I've seen people leave cats at the self-check as well. I run over and snag them, too. You never know what they may be for (have gotten some polygrip ones before) but you never know when it'll be for something you can use.

I will have to check behind the self-checks as well, and ask the cashiers if they have any that other customers didn't want...

My Kroger cashiers alway hand them to the customer with the receipt, and also tell you how much you saved.

I have seen them abandoned on the U-scan, but our U-scans are only express, and I usually have too much stuff, so I don't go over there.

At our U-scans, if someone has left the catalina, the cashier on duty takes it and rips them! ugh! I noticed this once when I was in another lane, and could not believe it. Why not leave it there for the next person? Or even put them in the coupon swap basket out front? My daughter knows if we use the self checkout, she looks into the garbage cans and pulls out the top unripped catalinas! These are usually thrown away by customers! gasp!

I've had this happen to me at several stores, Korger being one of them! So annoying! Its like they dont want you to have what you earned!

DH always finds them still on the CAT machines at the uscan lanes. Today he grabbed one for $3.00 off any purchase. He was only buying two containers of strawberries so they came to $.54 total with the coupon!
