MMMk. You're all going to LOVE this story, so prepare yourselves. I went into Kroger tonight because they have Sobe LifeWater on sale 10/$10. I have MANY MANY MANY .50/1 Q's making these free for me. The q's I picked up at Rite Aid a while back from a tearpad and they have the Rite Aid logo on them but they do state manufacturer's Q at the top. Well, I went through the uscan and rang them up and then handed my q's to the attendant. At first she scanned a few and then came over and said "These are for Rite Aid" I said no, they are manufacturer's coupon. She just pointed to the Rite Aid logo again and said "These are for Rite Aid" so I pointed to the top and said "No, they say manufacturer's coupon" She ran off to ask someone else. She came back and said "Well, I will only take one because it states 'one coupon per purchase'" I tried to explain to her that ALL coupons say this and if it had meant one per transaction it would specifically state that but she just decided to walk away from me. So I left all the items at the register and told her she needed to call a manager over IMMEDIATELY. Well, I waited several minutes before another lady approached me and asked if she could help. So I tried to explain the situation to her. She went into a room and then came out and said the manager told her they can only take one because it says one per purchase. I told her I wanted to speak to the manager directly. Once the manager FINALLY came out, she was a complete BEE!!!!! She got all cocky with me saying she had worked there for 15 years and knew the rules and that the manufacturer would not reimburse them for the Q since it had a Rite Aid logo on it and I told her that was far from the truth. THEN she told me that since it said one per purchase I could buy one, go get another one, and then buy it, and then go get another one...so on, so forth. But I could not purchase them all in one transaction or do several separate transactions in a row because I would hold people up. I explained to her I was not trying to do this. I wanted to do one transaction, use all my Q's and leave. Then she came back with the whole "it says one per purchase" and I explained to her ONCE AGAIN that all coupons said this to prevent you from using 5 Q's toward ONE item. But that wasn't good enough. In the end she said to me in these exact words "Take your coupons to Rite Aid!" WHAT!!?????? And you're supposed to be a manager? Telling me to shop at another store!!!!! LOL You've got to be kidding me. I was SO peeved and STILL am. It was enough of an experience to make me debate EVER shopping there again. So....can anyone help me? I think corporate should know about this situation because I know I was not in the wrong. Not to mention the fact that over the past several weeks I have used manufacturer's Q's that had other store logos on them at Kroger and the cashiers then said NOTHING! Take your q's to Rite AID? Is she serious? Call corp and get her FIRED! Booo!! Is there a number on the receipt maybe? Or check Kroger.com

call them immediately! what a b**ch! excuse my language but i can't stand when a store employee, let alone a MANAGER, treats customers that way! ETA: my kroger won't take coupons if another store logo is on them...they did it for me once "as a favor" and told me they couldn't do it anymore. would love to hear the final word from corporate on whether that is true or not, but EVEN if it is, they still had no right to talk to you like that! |

call corporate. she had no right. when will they learn they make money on coupons!!!!???? they all say reimbursed cost PLUS8 cents!!!!!!!!! they lost money by turning you away,they all do when they wont take the q. dumb

It sounds like this coupon was NOT a competitor coupon so I don't see the problem. Isn't the coupon saying "hey you can buy this product at Rite Aid or other stores"? My kroger has a LOT of new signs that say "we not longer take competitor coupons" but again this doesn't apply here. |

Not Perrysburg. I don't know about your experiences at Perrysburg but they are getting the same way. I think I have had ONE decent cashier that actually helped me but every other time I go in there they almost don't want to take my Q's and try to find an excuse not to take them.

I've not tried to take any catalina's or q's that have a store logo on them to other stores, but I'll be curious what corporate says.

I had the EXACT same thing happen with the Softsoap Ensembles coupon. I had a $3 off the refill when you buy the pump Q and a $2 tearpad Q that I got from Walgreens, which had the Walgreens logo printed on it, but it said Manu Q and can be redeemed at Walgreens OR any food, drug or discount merchandiser. I took that to mean that it was fine to redeem at Kroger. The $3 Q expired that night so I was in a rush to use it. First, the cashier has a problem with it, so I point out the wording and she keeps repeating, It says redeem at WALGREENS. I ask for a manager who comes over, laughs and says "I can't believe what YOU PEOPLE try to get away with at night. We are not Walgreens." I was astounded at that, took my coupon back and emailed Kroger Corporate, who, after 10 days, have still not gotten back to me!

Haha....sooooooo I just called corporate and the lady told me that the store manager has the discretion to limit coupon usage, quantity, etc. So basically it is up to the specific store manager on if they want to be a jackhole or not. Well....I guess I'll be shopping @ Meijer and Giant Eagle now.

Maybe there is a Kroger employee monitoring our threads, because I just got the following email from Kroger Corporate: Dearl: Thank you for contacting Kroger. I am sorry that your cashier would not accept the coupon you presented. As our managers have the right to set coupon policy for their store, I have forwarded your inquiry to the store's manager so that they can contact you about the situation. You should hear from them soon. In the meantime, if you would provide me with your Kroger Plus card number, I can add a $2 credit to your card for use on your next purchase of any items at Kroger. I e-mailed Kroger over a month ago to ask about their coupon policy (how many coupons double/triple and also how many IP you could use in a single transaction), since many AFCers were getting conflicting information. I got a reply TODAY saying basically that it's manager's discretion and I should check with the manager of my store... the funniest thing is that I sent the e-mail through their website and they ask you to select your store!!! For what?? Who knows! Since obviously it's not to check store-specific policies ![]() I knock on wood but I haven't had that many problems at my Kroger so far... but I always have troubles like that at Wags!! If only managers were trained the same way everywhere... and if only they KNEW their OWN rules!!!

That's pretty crappy. I just used a coupon at Target that I got in the mail from Kroger. It had the Kroger logo on it, but it said mfg on the top so Target took it.

I had something *very* similar happen in Columbus, OH. I called their corporate. Just go to the Kroger website and click the contact us. They were nice and helpful and the store manager will call you and if that doesn't help it goes to district.

Yeah I called corporate and was basically told it is at the manager's discretion and the manager from the store has NOT contacted me at all. I give up. Kroger sucks.

Then I get a phone call from the Kroger District saying they will leave a $10 gift card for me at the Kroger service desk, and I get a call from the store manager of the Kroger saying to bring in the coupons and they will honor them even though one of them has now expired. WOW! I am impressed by the customer service now! |

We had this same thing happen to us once. It was a regular manufacturer coupon and we were getting like 10 things of dental floss for free. They gave us that whole you can only use one per purchase, so we fought with the lady who then called up a manager and the associate is going "I told them they can only use one" so of course the manager is going to side with the associate to not make them look like an idiot.... So we ended up having them take all them off - we've never had a problem with ANY other cashier taking as many coupons as we want at any of the 4 local Kroger stores.

So far I think I have the best Kroger staff of all. I've never (knock on wood) had any issues with my q's at Kroger. I hope it stays that way.
