Does anyone have a Kroger Credit Card?

A friend told me about someone they know that has one. Seems to have some great benefits.

Anyone use this?

We like it. I shop for groceries almost exclusively at Kroger. We accumulate points based on our purchases and only use it at Kroger. Every quarter, they send coupons for specific products, $2 of a $5 produce coupons (for example) and even $5 or $10 off any purchase!

We get 15 cents per gallon off for gas, too.

It has worked out well for us, but like any credit card, it is not for everyone.

Here's what you do..... to get all the perks just apply for the card and NEVER use it to pay for your groceries. That's exactly what I do.. I still get the extra off on gas and I still get coupons in the mail. I just pay by check or check card. You just show them your credit card when you start checking out, they scan it just like your kroger card and they hand it back to you. You do NOT have to use it to get the perks. Or you can use it but subtract it out of your checkbook every month like you used a check and pay it off every month.

Oh, I thought you had to use it to buy your groceries. What about your gas? Do you have to use it to get the 15 cents off? What a great deal!!

I got a print out on my receipt today for a $10 kroger gift card w/ application of that 1-2-3 card thing. I want it just for the 15 cents off gas, but I don't want a credit card. If I don't have to pay for my groceries with it then I'd consider getting it or at least applying. (And I want that $10 gift card!!!! LOL )

Just a word of caution!! We have had one for a few years and love all of the benefits.
My husband uses the card to get 15 cents ofofa gallon.

Recently our total points (on the bottom of Kroger receipt) have not been accurate.
It is not ot our benefit.

Most recently someone using my phone # has purchased groceries and is using the points
to buy gas. At least that is what Kroger said on Monday. The was no supervisor available,
of course. Someone was to call back.

It was Wednesday or Thursday when he received a voice activated recording asking
if he was satisfied with the solution of his complaint.

Now, I believe, they can't use my phone number.

If I were just now getting I would print this out and ask a lot of questions!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps,

To get the 15 cents off the gas you have to purchase 100 worth of groceries. So for every 100 you spend, you get 15 cents off. Once you use the 15 cents off, it resets and prints on the bottom of the receipt. Say I had 105 dollars spent on one trip, then went and got gas.. it would reset down to 5 dollars. So I would need to spend 95 more dollars to get another 15 cents of gas. It goes from month to month. For every 100 spend per month, you get 15 cents off.
Hope that's not too confusing... and hope that helps!

This happened to us, too, when we just had the regular Kroger card. It's because your phone number is linked to your Kroger card number and it doesn't have anything to do with the credit card.

Not to make excuses for Kroger's corporate offices, but the Cincinnati area had over a million homes without power beginning on Sunday. As of yesterday, there were still 250,000 without so it might have been a power issue. Usually when I call Kroger corporate, they are right on the problem and very helpful.

I agree, it is always good to ask a lot of questions!

OK I must be missing something! I have seen the signs at the station advertising the lower gas price for the card...but I just read all over that website and do NOT see the gas perk mentioned anywhere. Am I losing it?!

If you use your card you can accumulate points for every dollar you spend on the credit card. Some items you get 1 or 2 or more points for each item. For every 1000 points you earn a 10.00 gift certificate. These are mailed out every quarter. I use mine for everything but I also do keep track in my check book of spendings so I am not in shock when bill arrives.

Ok, dollars spent to accumulate these points. Does the coupon $ count? Say like today my bill was $89.00 at Kroger. After the 3/15 and man Q's I only paid $19.00. So would I get credit for the 89.00 or the 19.00?

Love my Kroger C.C.

I have had the Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards Mastercard for about a year. Outside of mortgate & utilities, most of my budget is spent on groceries, and Kroger is where I do the majority of my shopping. I figured I might as well get a little something back, and I've been happy with the card.

You automatically get .10 off gas when you scan the mastercard, regardless of your grocery purchases. To get the .15 you have to charge at least $100 a month on the credit card at Kroger. Once you hit the $100 mark you get .15 a gallon for the rest of the month.

The card accumulates points based on your purchases. You receive 1 point for every dollar charged on the card no matter where you use it. For purchases at Kroger you receive 2 points for every dollar spent, and 3 points for every dollar spent on Kroger brands.

For every 1000 points you get a $5 Kroger gift certificate. They issue the gift certificates every 3 months, and always include 4 additional coupons. These coupons are for classes of items, not specific brands. For example, I have received coupons for $3 off $15 of healthy and beauty products, $5 off $15 of household cleaners, and $3 off $7 of fresh produce. Stack them with manufacturer coupons and it's a good deal. I've even been able to stack them with a Kroger coupon and a manufacturer coupon for super cheap Tide.

We rarely carry cash and use the card for everything, paying it off in full each month. We even have some of our monthly bills set to automatically charge to the card each month to get even more points. This system works for us as it allows me to more easily track our spending since it's all listed on the credit card bill.

However! A credit card is not for everyone. If you are not able to control yourself with plastic, or have chosen to go all cash all the time to avoid going overbudget, this card probably won't work for you. The interest rate is 12.74% if you carry a balance.

Hope this helps!

Live Worth Living-

The points are based on the total charged to the card, so your before coupon price wouldn't count. If you got $89 in products for $19, they will only count the $19 since that's all that gets charged to the card. It would be awesome if you got the whole amount, I've get twice as much in gift certificates!
