Is King Soopers and great grocery store to get deals? Hi I am currently living in Atlanta Ga and I shop at Publix which is the BEST grocery store, they accept Target and drugstore and Wholefoods as competitors so I am able to get great deals. My question is we are thinking of moving to Denver/Boulder so I was wondering where should my couponing ways shop. Any advice? |

I just recently started to coupon and personally think King's is better than Safeway in prices. Welcome to CO. Not sure on the other stores coupons though Sheila |

I personally feel that I get most of my great deals at King Soopers. They double coupons up to $.50 and coupons between $.51 and $.99 double to $1. We also have safeway, but they tend to be more pricey. There are deals to be found at Albertson, as well, but I think King Soopers is the best. I am not sure of any stores around my area (Northern Metro Area) that except competitor coupons. That would be awesome! There are many friendly people on this board, so definately look us up if you move here. I hope I helped. Feel free to PM me if there is more I can help you with.

I have always found King's to be the most coupon friendly too, but they don't accept competitor's coupons.

Ohhh. That's nice that you get a .60 cent double to a dollar. My store doesn't do that. I will miss my: takes all competitors policy but really looking forward to moving to denver/boulder. I will be watching the threads so I can see how this store works. Thanks for any advice.... |

A couple other nice things about King's: If an item rings up incorrectly and you catch it at the register they are supposed to give it to you for free. Also, if you buy something and find a coupon for it later (within a reasonable amount of time) you can take your receipt and coupon to customer service and they will give you the money back.

Thanks for the advice. I have been told that Boulder/Denver can be expensive. So at least I will be able to get my staple items cheap!

I live in southern Colorado, but find more deals at Safeway than King Soopers (City Market-which does take competitor coupons). I like to shop both to get in on all deals. We will be moving north to the Denver area soon too! Welcome to Colorado, it is beautiful!!

This is a great thread! I'm currently in AZ and have access to Fry's (Kroger), Albertson's, Safeway, Bashas', Fresh & Easy, Super Wal-mart, Super Target, CVS, Walgreens, and several others. We're also thinking about moving to the Broomfeild, CO area...was wondering what kinds of stores were there. I only saw Super Wal-Mart and Safeway on our trip last week. Safeway here is the most expensive and I never shop there.

I don't live far from Broomfield and feel that Safeway is the most expensive here too. King Soopers is an affiliate of Kroger and often runs the same promos. We too have Albertsons, Walgreens and Target. All of these stores are located in Broomfield (except Albertsons, which is about 15-20 mins away). Quote:

I can't wait to get out of the heat...we'll probably head out of here in April 2010 just before it starts to get blistering next summer. DBF's job transfers so he's covered...now to just find me a job and save for moving costs!

Great that King Soopers is coupon friendly but why is it that safeway and albertsons are not? Coupons are another form of marketing and for us couponers looking for deals we just might get hooked on a product we initially would have never bought unless we got a great deal. Sorry for the rant it just burns me why stores are unfriendly to using coupons when it is a win/win situation for everyone unless there are complexities about stores getting reimbursed for coupons, but I don't think so.

i dont know, but whenever i use my coupons at safeway and albertsons, i always get a snotty cashier, they make me feel that im robbing their stores. with walmart, it is a different story. i had a really bad cashier, she rang my items twice, and did not accept my coupons. thats why im so loving king soopers and walgreens

I would say I've had the best luck with King Soopers as well, although you have to make sure you're matching your coupons with the sales. Without the sale price, King Sooper is a bit higher than some of the other stores. It's a wonderful feeling to watch the price drop after you scan your King Sooper card and then have it go down even lower after coupons!

King's also has great manager's specials! If you go in the evening, around 8 or 9, there are usually some really good deals on meat. They also do day old bread at 50% off, which I haven't seen anywhere else.

I really like my Kings (Westminster) and have never had an issue with coupons. I agree with the other posts that Safeway is much pricier. As for Albertsons, they have closed all stores around me. I think they can be pricey but they do run great sales on certain items. The Broomfield Kings off North of Hwy 36 (Boulder Turnpike) on Hwy 287 is not far off the Highway and probably have lower priced items than the Boulder store. My Kings is not far from Hwy 36 either (Wadsworth and 100th). Good luck and welcome to Colo! |

The only problem I have had with Kings is a limit on like-coupons. Some stores will only allow 3 of the same at a time. They will allow multiple transactions, but the 3 coupon limit is really annoying. Prices at KS are better than Albies and Safeway, but Albies has pretty good sales too and occasionally they will run triple coupon promos. Safeway does double coupon promos too on occasion.
