I went to my Lifeway store today. I'm doing the shopping for 3 kids that my church's preschool department "adopted". I got 2 $5 VeggieTales DVDs, a $5 kid's bible, a $6.99 boardbook bible, a $9 teen devotional book, and the WOW 2012 CD. I bought a $25 gift card first to get the $5 Bonus Bucks. Then my purchases totaled $40.98. I used the $10/$40 coupon. I got 2 of the 25% cats, too. My store was sold out of "The Wylds", which I specifically wanted for a kid on my list. I'll have to check back for that, but I got everything else I needed for the three kiddos. Nice deal. Then I had a 33% off one regular-priced item waiting in my mailbox when I got home.

I am so glad to read that you also took advantage of Lifeway's gift card deal. This was my first "real" Lifeway shopping trip and I was excited! Piddled around with their 2011 Easter sale, but since I rarely receive their in-store monthly sale catalogs I do not shop there much.

However, this particular Lifeway sale had several CDs that I have been waiting for. FCS has not yet placed any of them on their regular $5 door buster sales and I absolutely refuse to pay more than $5 for a CD. So seeing that Lifeway was dropping prices to compete with FCS, was a true blessing.

Did you know that Lifeway offers "special orders" free of charge for their members? My store was out of 5 other items that I wanted and they offered to order them for me. Since I was ordering sale items I was able to "lock in" those prices even though it will take 2 weeks for my order to arrive.

There is no commitment to buy either. When my order arrives and if I decide that I no longer want the items, Lifeway will not charge me. They simply sale the items that I did not want in the store. Thought that policy rocked, because FCS requires all "special orders" to be pre-paid.

I had my "Thou Shalt Laugh 4 DVD box set special ordered from FCS last month and had absolutely no problems. Had to pay up front, of course, but I did get the DVD box set for the sale price of $12.49.

If you are serious about buying "The Wylds" DVD, I would have Lifeway special order it.

Yeah, I got the 33% off one-regular priced item Q too. Was printed on the back cover of their in-store monthly sale catalog. Surprised I finally got a catalog! However, Q is valid only on 12-16-11 through 12-20-11.

Thanks for the CD collection comment. I have been building it since 2009. Have around 200 Christian CDs all purchased brand new @ $5 each. DD is in love with Klove (its the only radio station that we listen to) and she wanted to "own" some of the songs. Her current favorite is "I Lost My Keys" by Francesca Battistelli from her "Hundred More Years" album.

My store was sold out of "The Wylds", which I specifically wanted for a kid on my list. I'll have to check back for that, but I got everything else I needed for the three kiddos. Nice deal. Their Q's always have a short shelf life! I feel like I go there once a week to use a coupon before it expires! Maybe that's their plan...

I don't have enough time now to get them to order "The Wylds". We give the adopted families their gifts in the 18th. This is the first time they've been out of something I wanted.

I am sorry that special ordering is not an option for you. I did not realize that your adopt-a-family-Christmas program's deadline was so soon. Our church's adopt-a-family-Christmas program allows us a little more time.

Ah! "The One-Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge" book! Awesome choice! This book is so new that I have not heard much chatter about it, but I am sure that is about to change as FCS has the book on sale for $11.19 on page 36 in there 12/02/11 - 12/24/11 in-store monthly sale catalog.

However, members must use the "create your own sale 30% off your entire purchase of regular-priced items" Q on back cover in order to score that sale price. If you do not have the Q, I have plenty and am willing to share.

From what little that I have heard, this particular book reads like Stephen Kendrick's famous book "The Love Dare'" but focuses on more than just marriage, of course. Written by a man for men concept, that addresses multiple areas in a man's life. It is basically a devotional.

This book will quickly gain attention/popularity and become an adult bible study/life group in many churches.

However, due to the price, I went with Lifeway's "Birdie & Bogey" $5 DVD instead. That is the frugalist in me.

FYI. FCS has a three day $5 doorbuster sale going on from Friday 12/09/11 - 12/11/11 and they have the book entitled "The Story" by Max Lucado & Randy Frazee on sale for $5. I did not buy the book though. Instead I purchased:

I purchased my CD by accident on Friday 12-09-11. It was a toss up between "Go Fish: Christmas with a Capital C" and "Mercy Me: All That is Within Me CD/DVD" Combo.

However, since I already had the Mercy Me: All That is Within Me CD, I thought it silly to buy the same CD again just to get the DVD. So the sales associate recommended the "Go Fish" CD.

I had absolutely never heard of them before and was hesitate to buy it, because I thought it was a children's CD! You know...Go Fish...child's card game... But I am so glad that I did!

Turns out that I did know their music despite not knowing their name! Have heard track #5 a zallion of times! Me and DD so rock out to that song! Perhaps its her new favorite?

Yes and no.

The movie has a fabulous storyline and plot with awesome metaphors and analogies that really drive the biblical references home!

Some of the scenes got right to the point. I mean, I got it. A light bulb turned on in my head. I understood and could relate to what the characters were trying to explain.

However, most of the conversations between the characters were poorly written. The dialog was flat and dry, with fake or "forced" emotion.

Scene transitions were choppy.

And the special visual effects leaves something to be desired. They were down right hilariously cheesy. They reminded me of a bad 1954 Godzilla film.

This movie is obviously a low budget film with blatant b ratings, but its got a good heart! If the producers had a bigger budget this film would have hit movie theaters!

Is it good?

Awesome! I need to see if my store has it in stock for the same price. The last time I was there I did not see it, but then again I was not specifically looking for it as the item was not on my list.

According to Lifeway's 11/28/11 - 12/24/11 monthly in-store sale catalog, all $5 sale items end on 12-24-11, so if the DVD is out of stock on the shelves, I need to hurry up & special order it in order to lock in the sale price. Thanks for sharing! I really want to see this movie.
