ok, RARELY go to kmart as it is. i went last month for the snuggle deal. i think it was spend $25 get $5 back? well, last week i used the $5 and spontaneously bought a bike trailer. i was excited about it, but when i got home and read the reviews on amazon i discovered it was junk. today i returned it and management said i couldn't get refunded the $5 as it was a coupon. i could be wrong, but i really don't think it was a coupon. it was $5, but so what if it was a coupon? any other store i've ever been to would return the full price. that is not fair at all, in my opinion anyway. input please? thanks for reading...

its a PITA when doing returns at KMart with or without coupons! I understand your situation and what is fair to me is if they will issue a store credit for your $5 and refund the rest in whatever manner you paid. But to say outright that you "lose" the value of the coupon when doing returns doesn't sound right. I don't expect a lot from KMart. That is why I avoid buying any item even with the least possibility of a return after knowing their horrible return policies. I'm sorry for your trouble and don't set your hopes too high that you'll likely get back your $5. If they give it back, be very grateful but expect the worse case scenario when it comes to KMart.

thanks. no, they didn't give it and i left. not going back. weird thing is, it wasn't really a coupon in my view. it was like an RR or ECB. it was $5 i earned for making the previous purchase. it scanned as 'coupon' on my reciept. thanks for taking the time to comment.

I can't believe they wouldn't give the money back to you..I'm sure they are going to be reimbursed for that catalina. I would try contacting corp about it and see what their response is.

Oh...yeah....I've run into this before!!! Had a couple of them from doubles back in the summer....bought a purse....my hubby HATED it...said it looked like a suitcase....so I returned it.....they gave me $3 back....because I had paid with the "coupons"......DUH...if I would've been thinking I would've asked to exchange it for a purse of equal value!!! You are RIGHT....it is NOT a coupon...but money EARNED for participating in one of their promotions. I HATE their policies....but arguing with anyone who works there is like spitting in the wind!!! I wish you LUCK in getting anything back from them!!!! The only time I shop there is for doubles or clearance because I could not handle dealing with them on a regular basis!!! |

I would email corp and explain that it was a cat promo and that you have no desire to deal with store personel on this issue again. Also, inform them that you feel a gift card in the $5 amount is how the situation should have been handled. I did this on another issue I had and they had no problem with fixing the problem the way I suggested. Worth a try anyways...Good Luck!

well, i called 1-866-kmart-4u. yeah right. the lady was no help either. she wants me to call back later in the day so we can do a 3 way call with the store manager who wouldn't listen yesterday and she says she has no clue about policies. i give up...

^^ that is the most common experience people report when contacting KMart customer (dis)service. I don't blame you for giving up, I'd do the same and just charge it to experience.

too bad for you. i haven't any experience about this and i don't want it to experience in the future. maybe next time try first asking about the deals.

I encountered this same situation a couple of months ago. After I returned the item and got home and thought about it, I emailed customer service through Kmart's website explaining this and questioning if this was their policy. I received an email back asking for information regarding which store this occured at and other info (can't remember what else they asked for at the time). I received a phone call from the manager of the Kmart store and was sent a $5 gift card.

I too learned the hard way on the Kmart catalinas. Discovered the easiest way to deal with it is to exchange rather than return. Just has to be someting of the same value not the exact same item. I've exchanged for Milk and dog treats rather than let them keep the dollars. Sorry this happened to you. |

I definitely understand why you'd be upset. You didn't like the product and you should have been reimbursed for what you paid. You used that $5 CAT as partial payment and they should have given that back to you. I think it's pretty ridiculous that they should have you do a 3-way with the store manager. You should request that they "corporate" discuss it with the store manager and get back to you. That's what THEY'RE there for.

I am sorry you went through what you did but, with Kmart, you really should have known better. They are terrible! Their customer service is laughable! I would rather drive right past that place than to go in there no matter the sale! No wonder most of their stores shut down! |

Well one experience shouldn't ruin everything. By the way. That $5 that you had got taken off was technically not yours anyways. They're giving you back the money that you had paid. They're NOT going to give you extra.

I avoid K-Mart like the plague, LOL. The lines are super long, the stores are sorely outdated, the prices seem to never be correct even though the signs/flyers have an advertised price, customer service is horrible, etc.

If it was printed at the register at Kmart, it wasn't really a coupon but what they call a reward. Kinda like a thank you for buying the Snuggle in their store. When you returned the item you bought, they gave you back all the money you paid.
