Hi all! I'm super new and trying to cut my huge grocery bill.

Can anyone tell me if the cat deal starting at Jewel today is on shelf price or sale price? Last time I tried using shelf price my cat didn't print.

Hi,
We go off the shelf price but one thing you need to remember is that you don't include tax so you need to make sure you reach the $30 before adding the tax. Make sure you watch this or you wont get a cat. Here are some of the things I did last night....

16 Scott Rolls=
4 1/1 Coupon

$16.14
$15.00 Cat=$1.14
I did that one twice

16 Liption Soup Mixes
$16.12
$15.00 Cat=$1.12

Knorr Side dishes (Rice) 16
$16.12
$15.00 Cat=$1.12

6 Mayo
$18.25
$15.00 Cat=$3.25

These are a few that I did last night hope this helps...I'm going back today to get more...Some stuff was not on sale last night yet.

If you use the shelf price, you may come up short. You need to use the lowest non-preferred price. So, if you go to the price checker & get 3 prices, the lowest non-preferred price is the one you should use. For example:
$2.99 reg
$2.49 sale
$1.99 preferred

You should use the 2.49 for your calculations, not 2.99 or you may come up short. If there is only a reg & preferred, then you can use the reg price for your calc. (This does not always work for Osco items BTW)

$3.96 for 24 cans after cat. Always remember to check your store's scan prices......

Buy 5 at shelf price = 6.69 * 5 = 33.45
Pay 2.99 each = 14.95

Thanks, I asked my husband to try it on his way home and he was actually smart enough to buy 6 cause they rang up for 5.99 each. It worked!!!

You could have done them all together and gotten 3-$10s back.

I prefer doing it 3 times high and getting 9-$5 catalinas. Less trips/transactions that way.

Just to add if there is a "Big Relief" price, that is the price you have to use to calculate.

Thanks for all the great input, and I did not know you could do more than the $30 and get all of the cats, so VERY awesome!

I have been mixing things up so I don't have so much of one item, although most of it is going to be donated as currently I cannot store it.

I know in most of my trans I have been doing 8 knorr rice sides, 7 cake mixes, 1 box of lipton 100ct tea bags and 1 can of veggies. My cousin and I had found some q's that were .45 off 1 any knorr side, which helped lower the total ($14.53)

We were also doing the yoplait, since there are $1 off 1 q's that just came out, which is great too, as the reg price is high. I did do a trans with cereal, which at first I was using the $1/3 q, but in yesterdays paper there was $1/2 q in it. Not really sure I want to get more cereal though, as I would prefer to get the bigger boxes that are giving you movie codes. So I will just wait till those go on sale.

and I have yet to find the scott paper towels...... not getting my hopes up though!

Not sure if anyone is close to the Lockport Jewel, but they are having a re-opening this week as well. So the cake mixes and veggies are even cheaper. I'll add the prices in a little bit.

So let me make sure I have this correct.
I can do this deal more than once per transaction with any of the qualifing items. Do you know if there is a limit to the amount we can get back ? Thanks

Yes, if you do $30 worth you get 3 $5 cats
If you do $60 worth you get 3 $10 cats
If you do $90 worth you get 9 $5 cats

I have been stacking it upto $90 and after preferred card it comes down to $45-$50 or whatever and then use a $4/40 or $5/50 or whatever for additional savings before coupons and cats...

also, the higher you stack the better the average item price...for example.

Progresso broth..
you need 11 for $30
you need 21 for $60
you need 31 for $90..

so, you buy 2 less to get to $90 then if you did 3 orders of 11 to get to $30 3 times.
