Jewel STINKS!

Okay, I'm so done with Jewel (after I get my many expired frees over with). I go to Jewel today and buy all the sale items. Transaction goes smoothly. I then head over to Customer Service to buy my $300 GC. Transaction goes smoothly but I don't get the gas rewards :0( I go to the Jewel Gas Station to use my current 26 cents off per gallon and the pump wouldn't scan my card. I got mad and left. While on the road, I called Jewel's customer service to inquire about why they are not accepting expired coupons anymore. The supervisor tells me it's because Jewel is not making any money. I then say, "hmmmm ... that's so suprising considering how high your prices are" and she says that she wouldn't know because she doesn't live by a Jewel. Can you believe that? OMG ... I go onto say that Jewel is going to lose a lot of their customers because of this. Supervisor doesn't know what else to say other than their prices are high because they pay their employees more money and we pay more money for better customer service. Pathetic.

So, I inquire about why I didn't get the 33 cents in gas rewards. They tell me that it's because it's not valid for cash. WHAT? I believe 12345 got her 33 cents so Jewel is full of crap. They go onto say that if anyone does get gas rewards, it's a glitch in the system. I said that I just dropped $300 on a gift card and they can't offer 33 cents ?? They take away expireds and now are giving me a hard time on 33 cents? Ugh !!! Nope, supervisor won't budge. I told her that I want to return the gift card and she said you can't cuz it's cash. I asked her where this great customer service is that I'm paying for and all she says "is there anything else I can help you with".

I'm so mad now I could scream. I'm gonna take my $300 gift card and use up all of my expired FREES in one purchase. I'll make them sweat out one big transaction and then I'm so done with Jewel. I have no problem taking my business elsewhere.

I've never had a problem using expired frees but now that I think about it, maybe I should use some restraint on Saturday and not use all of them at once. Maybe I'll split my trip into half ...

The $300 GCs stopped giving gas rewards awhile ago. That only worked the first few days and they caught onto it.

You DO get the rewards for the items you purchase with the cards...just not a double dip anymore.

Interesting. I know of someone that just got the gas rewards YESTERDAY !! If they are gonna do it for some, they should do it for all, especially after how the supervisor went on and on how we the customers pay higher food prices for better customer service ... that comment is just burned into my mind. Makes me so mad !!

Call the Itasca office and ask for the refund for your GC. The store may not have been able to do the refund...but the corp offices may be able to authorize the store to do so.

If you called the 1-877-932-7948 number, I can confirmed that the people who work in those call centers know less than nothing. A waste of my time and cell minutes. I agree with Barb - call the local 630 area code number.

I can do one better. Not only did I not get the gas rewards for the $300, but I also didn't get it for my $200 purchase I made with the $300 gift card and it knocked my total to $0.00 per gallon.

How's that for good customer relations?

did you get the $30.00 free though? if you mentioned you did i missed it just wondering
when i bought the $300 card the system wouldnt do it on the cashiers isle register.. so i had to go to CS one and the manager did it and when she was done she noticed the .33 cents on it for gas and told another manager and he said he will go change it now and he went to the back and must have changed it
i was all mad cause i wanted to get another one the next week but now theres no point.
i did notice that if you buy restaurant cards it gives you gas rewards also store ones that jewel sells.. so if we go out any where to one of those stores or food places i go there to get a card to shop with JUST for the rewards.
One manager told me the GC dont give gas rewards because they are tax free when purchased

*IS still crying about the not taking expireds any more thing*******

Yeah, I got the free $30. I'm just so mad about the supervisor's comments. They brag about this great customer service and that's why their food prices are high because they pay their employees more ... ARGH! I didn't get ANY customer service yesterday. I will use all my expireds by April 30 and then I'm going elsewhere. Their customer service has really gone down in my opinion. I may call the itasca office today ... it all depends on whether I calm down enough to call. I'm still mad today !!

Totally agreed! The two times I've called, the people I spoke with not only did not know the answer to my questions, but they didn't care if Jewel continued to have my business or not.

Take deep breaths, call the local number when you've calm down a bit and tell us how it went.

So, I went today to do my big shop and use most of my expired FREES. Check-out did NOT go smoothly. I had about $80 in manufacturer coupons ... mid-way through scanning my coupons, the cashier asked me in a snotty tone if all of my coupons were FREES. I responded, "no, only the coupons on the left are for FREES". She continues to scan and then points to the sign and reminding me that as of May 1, they won't take any more expireds. Whatever ... I'm not blind ... I don't think anyone can miss those signs. She was just annoyed I had a wad of coupons. At some point, she got distracted and started to rescan coupons that she already scanned. When I pointed that out to her, she mumbled something under her breath. Whatever ... at one point, my FREE mighty dog coupons would not go through. She looked through the receipt and told me that she had scanned 7 coupons. Fine. Everything else scans normally and they need a override for the coupons. Out comes my most favorite manager (I'm being sarcastic here) and she reminds me that if an expired coupon beeps, they cannot put it through EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. I don't say anything. I get my receipt and get out of line. As I'm waiting for my husband who went to Osco for a lottery ticket, I hear the manager complaining about me and my coupons and then when my husband came back, he told me he heard my cashier talking smack about me to the next customer in line !!! OMG ... I was livid. I glance at my receipt and I wasn't given any gass rewards for my purchase of $166 so back on the phone I go to customer service. The lady that answered the phone was so nice ... she gave me the adjustment for my gas rewards and I mentioned to her how the manager and cashier had made snide comments about me and the coupons and she apologized and said she was soooo sorry that happened. She put a note in the comment box for my phone call. For a store that BOASTS themselves on customer service, I was truly shocked to be belittled for using coupons BY A CASHIER AND MANAGER!!! I didn't do anything wrong, I was totally in compliance with Jewel's signs stating that they would no longer take expireds effective May 1 ... I mean, isn't today April 3 ?? I have no idea what their problem is over there. Oh, BTW ... she only scanned 4 of my mighty dog coupons. I knew it ! So, now I actually paid for three cans when they should have been free. I'm returning those cans on Sunday.

As I'm waiting for my husband who went to Osco for a lottery ticket, I hear the manager complaining about me and my coupons and then when my husband came back, he told me he heard my cashier talking smack about me to the next customer in line !!! OMG ... I was livid. I glance at my receipt and I wasn't given any gass rewards for my purchase of $166 so back on the phone I go to customer service.
