Today I was at Jewel and there is now a sign at self check out that says "You must scan preferred card first." Anyone else see something similar? I just ignored it of course because I wanted my catalina deal to work out. Luckily no one said anything. Is this something new that Jewel will start enforcing? I HOPE NOT!!

You don't HAVE to scan your card last....the deal works no matter when you scan the card. The only reason to scan last is to be sure you reached the $25 mark....if you are sure of your math it makes no difference.

That is so good to know - thank you! I always thought the catalina deal would not work unless you reached $25 and then scanned the card.

I went last week through self checkout and the J&J cat didn't work. I know the shelf price was over $25 but I didn't get it. So I went to CS. They let me get 1 more item. But as i was leaving she said you must scan the preferred card first, that's why it didn't work. So I don't know. But then she also said it was based on sale. They are always changing things.

No, definitely not true! If I'm sure my numbers are right, I'll go ahead and scan my card first..... If I'm not positive, I don't scan until the end..... it works either way for getting the cat.

Maybe it was one or more of your Osco-side items.....I read that if the Osco item has a tag that says "Bonus Buy", THAT is the price that counts towards the catalina deal,..... it the Osco item has a tag that says "Preferred Card Price", the sales price before card is the amount that counts towards the deal...... maybe that was the mix-up?

They were all Osco Items b/c it was for the J&J deal. That could have been it. The last time I did the P&G deal too it didn't print, now that I think about it. I will remember that when I purchase Osco items.

But sometimes, I think they try to trick us with the Osco items..... for instance, take the Dove, Buy $15, Get $5, OYNO deal this week (I think those are the right numbers...) anyway.... on that Dove deal, some of the products... like maybe the shampoo and certain deodorants were going by the "Bonus Buy" price BUT other products..... like the clinical deodorant and hair stylers had a "preferred card" tag, so those were going by the before PF card/ring price!!! Not sure now which products were which, but the point is that even though ALL of them were on the Osco side, not all of them used the same method for counting towards the deal...... sneaky, no?!?!?

Yay! I did the Pepsi/PG deal a few weeks ago and brought nothing but CoverGirl Amazemint and I *thought* I could go off of the shelf price like the Kraft/Starkist deal and it was a no go for the cat to print. When I went off the sale price I rec'd the cat. I also always try to steer clear of the regular lanes and do self checkout (and that sometimes has something to do with a cat printing or not)!

Yeah, I'm with you! Sometimes, I get dizzy thinking about it all!!

okay what is the deal now , buy x and get back y but go off the shelf price but the sale price figure in the coupons and (math) and I STILL don't get my right cat....here I go to CS!!!

My new thing is this do a deal early in the week, DO it and IF it works out then REPEAT - REPEAT - REPEAT until it's over!
