Yea I hardly ever go to Jewel, seriously I think I have gone last year maybe 5 times . WE shop more at Woodmans and Cermak foods next to Jewel. Seems like their prices are always cheaper than Jewels.

Hickory Hills here and I shop the 95th and Roberts. I do travel to the surrounding Jewels when there's great sales taking place.

I love it. Never a problem with expired coupons. I almost went to one last night in Orland but figured I'd call before I went in to see if they take expireds and the lady, Donna, said they are supposed to say no. However, if you have a large order and only a few expireds within the last month or two, and the machine takes 'em, they will allow that. Um...no thanks!

I think that's the one I go to and that's probably why they accept my expired!!! I spend $100-$120 a week in that store! However, every Jewel I have gone to and used self check and scanned a coupon, it was accepted!!! Doesn't hurt to try the self check out!

It sounds like, they will take them, unless the cashier examines the coupon for expiration dates. Of course, YMMV!!

I think it depends on who you talk to! I shop at that one LOTS and use expireds ALL THE TIME!!! (and some of them are VERY EXPIRED!) I have specifically asked about expireds at the Customer Service desk more than once...... as recently as this week...... and was told that "if they scan, they take them"!!!!!!!!!

She said that if a coupon doesn't scan ..... and they look at it and see that's it's expired, that's when they would refuse it!

I Agree --- I use self check out ALL THE TIME and never have a problem using my expired coupons! (and as I mentioned in the post above, I have checked repeatedly with customer service to make sure it was ok to do that!). My biggest headache is that using lots of coupons triggers my "needing assistance", where the person watching over the self checkouts comes over to see that they were really coupons that I put into the slot like I was supposed to..... etc, etc, etc. Other that the extra scrutiny, I've never had a problem with using them at self check out...

In all of my times of needing "assistance", they've never taken the coupons out of the little box to look at the expiration dates....... they've definitely looked to see that I bought the correct product, but never the expiration dates.....

I'd say more than not lately, I "need assistance" because I've used a BIG coupon, like a Jewel catalina from a promotion ...........or a Walgreens Register Reward. I think you always need assistance when using a big bucks coupon at self check.

I am "new" in this forum- I've never checked the Jewel one b/c I can usually find other deals elsewhere- but I'm in the south suburbs.

Joliet here. Our Jewels take ANY coupon as long as you buy the product. They don't tell you that if you ask, but that is what they have done for many years.
