We recently moved to Iowa and the little town we live near has one grocery store: Fareway. Wow - what a difference coming from Milwaukee. Truly learning to love Fareway. From what I can tell, the best sales have pink sale tags on the shelves. My kids and I look for the pink sale tags and usually disregard the others, if not in the sale flier. I love the fact that this chain is family owned, closed on Sundays (everyone needs a break) and I adore the service they provide of carrying my groceries out to my car! Unheard of in Wisconsin!! FW may not be the biggest store, but in my opinion, their customer service far exceeds anything I have ever experienced before, ever! I coupon at Walgreen's and Target, but - FW seems to have my heart when it comes to the pink sale tags. I hope this is true at all FW stores! One last thing... last night I bought 5 bags of Sun Chips at FW because they were priced $1.99! Never in my life have I seen them this cheap! Whoo-hoo, I am stocked up on the Garden Salsa flavor and if they're still on sale, on Monday, I'll buy more.

I haven't been to check out the pink sale yet, but may need to make a stop tomorrow and maybe for some Sun Chips too!! Those are the best and a great deal. When we first moved to Iowa I thought the same thing and it was so nice and welcoming - we've never been to a store like that..I'm from TX. My husband really likes their meat. I had never been to a store that they package everything right there like at the butcher. Lol it's the small things. Some things yes you're going to find better at walmart and target but I'll take their deal, produce and freshness with my shopping anytime! the small towns usually have the best local produce and in season check the farmers market! :0)

I worked for Fareway for 10 years so I can tell you from experience what a good store they are! They DO price match, so if you have an ad from a local grocery store they will gladly match it. The pink tags are the signs hung from the ad, be on the lookout for other signs too. Every Fareway I've known automatically matches Hy-Vee's ad so you don't even have to bring the ad with you, it should already ring up that price. Most managers also closely watch Wal-Mart so it's likely that if Wal-Mart is cheap on something Fareway will be too. If not, bring the ad! They also have orange competitor's ad price signs they hang, along with yellow signs for items they have temporarily on a deal, though usually not as cheap as a pink sign ad item. Green tags are also new low price signs that change every week. Sometimes items go down drastically for just one week, so you should pay attention to more than just the pink signs! There's more good deals to be had!
