I live in Indianola South of Des Moines. I watch Extreme Couponing and wish I could be somewhat like them hahahah

But I really think to get the best deals you need a store that doubles or had a shopper card.

So Are there any stores in Iowa? I think I would drive to Ames if the deals were good enough

I don't think any stores besides Kmart(sometimes) doubles in Iowa...i might be wrong..i live in Johnston and most of the time i don't go to Kmart ,Hickman road (it's not worth to me) with them having all the restrictions and higher prices then most of the stores around here....you might think differently..

I agree the Kmart is very expensive...I have not gone there to shop just to do a merchandising project I was working on.

Sad to know there are no stores in Iowa that double..

Pamida has double coupon times but they are in rural places and their selection is very limited and prices very high even with double coupons. I drove 35 mins to the Perry location on Tuesday to check it out and got just enough deals to make my trip somewhat worth it but I won't do it again. It made me really appreciate living in Des Moines and not having to accept those prices.

We have only lived here 3 1/2 years....and all in Indianola. What is Dahl's like?

Dahls has great customer service but higher prices on almost everything. To give you an idea, I went to a closing sale years ago for a Dahls and everything was 20% off. I still didn't get much because I could get better deals between Walmart and Aldis. Because they were convenient and sometime have good sales, I still shopped there (until January of this year as I am boycotting them now but that is another story).

I agree with Wendy...Dahl's is very expensive and unless they have a good sale i don't go there...I shop more at HyVee and Fareway than any other stores....there is a new Wallmart store in Grimes,few miles from me but i found it more expensive than one in Ankeny...I don't know what stores you have in Indianola except HyVee but keep your eyes on treads here and you'll be able to get good deals....you can also check HyVee on facebook and see what they have on sale....Here is the code for HyVee phone deals,you text the #49833 NOWWOW and every week they have 1 good deal...last night i got text from them for 1lb 85% ground beef roll for .49c.....good luck to you...

We have Walmart, Hyvee and Fareway. I buy 90% of my meat at Fareway and I shop there sales, I shop sales at Hyvee but do most of my normal grocery shopping at Walmart. I got the ground beef lastnight. I just returned from Hyvee and bought 4 more Purex they had a TON of it but had a limit 5 sign up. I now have 8 bottles so I am good for awhile. Thank you all

There are Kroger's in Peoria IL if you live on the Easter side of IA. That is where I see most of the TLC shoppers shopping. We used to live in KY and they were all of there and doubled. If you are willing to drive, they are about an hour out of the Quad cities.

I heard from a friend that there is a Super Value grocery store in Montezuma, Iowa that doubles coupons on certain days.

My grandparents live in Iowa, and I've been out there a few times (the Centerville/Moulton area). I feel sorry for you guys , there's nothing there but Walmart and I think a Hyvee. Perfectly good stores, but my grandparents have to drive 15-30 minutes to get there! I live in the city so the store is only 2 minutes away. However, if I lived back there, i would probably organize the shopping to do on one day only to not waste gas.

U can do it without double i didnt think i could either but made 120 down to 10 @walmart..one store here double once a month where i get energy drinks for my fiance for free

I would be rather surprised if someone from Iowa made it on Extreme Couponing - but I would love to see it!

Having moved to Iowa from WI - (in WI it is easy to dbl coupon), I was really depressed to have to learn to coupon all over again. However, as couponers, we overcome the obstacles and there's been a lot of great advice in this forum post. I wonder though, does anyone actually do "price matches"?

I saw a sign at Fareway that said they do price matching. If that's true, I have a whole new outlook on couponing! Yay! Granted, it will take more time and planning, but - to save money at the grocery store, I will do almost anything.

Good luck and if I figure more out, I'll post about it.

BTW - I agree about K-mart... the one in Ames is sooo high, but- seems like stuff is 50% off e/o week... but not food.

did you know they price match? that makes it all worth the trip on double coupon days!
