I'm in KS and we have 2 Hy-vees in town. They do compete with 4 Krogers stores, a Super Wal-mart, a Super Target, an Aldi's, and a local grocery store.

It seems like Hy-vee is overall a little higher priced but then they have FANTASTIC, AMAZING sales (even though the Crazy 8s sale isn't a ton of stuff, but I'm still excited).

What do you like about Hy-vee? If you shop there regularly do you have lots of other stores to choose from in your area? What are some of the things that you consistently find a good price on at Hy-vee?

I love Hy-Vee. they are super helpful and have great sales. You can also drive up and they will load your groceries in the car for you if you would like. I live in Missouri and there are several Hy-Vee's in the area. The one I shop competes with Price Chopper and Walmart. I shop at Price Chopper too. Wouldn't go in Walmart if you paid me.

I do like the drive-up service. Strangely only one of the two stores in our town offers it though. And wouldn't you know it, it's not the one by my house! Oh well.

I'm in Cedar Rapids, IA and shop Hy-Vee quite a bit. Their store brand prices compete well with other stores in my area. They also have a growing organic/health foods section and many prices there are very reasonable. They've never questioned my coupons and I love that my credit union is right in the store.

They are always asking if there's something they can help you find. I really like the atmosphere there, Hy-Vee is my closest grocery store now that all of the Dillon's stores (Kroger) in town went out of business.

Hyvee is also my closest grocery store in town since Dillon's shut down all their KC area stores. They are more expensive than Wal-mart and they don't double coupons like Hen house but they are right by my house and the stores are clean and neat and the employees are very friendly!

I do think Hyvees are extremely clean! I agree.

crcpa, I live in CR, too. I like Hy-Vee because they have such a wide variety. When they have a sale, it is usually pretty good. I don't do all my shopping there, but I do go about once a week. I only live a few blocks from a Hy-Vee store. I agree that they are one of the cleanest stores around. Now, if only they would do something about that smell coming from the meat section.

My HyVee is 20 miles away but, I go there for specialty items and to shop their sales.

My Hy Vee is very clean also. And, I almost can always find what I am looking for. Never have had an issue with any q and some of their sales are really good! Also they mark their meat down if it needs to sell in 3-4 days and I can buy meat at 50-75% off usually. Most everybody stays away from it like the plague but there is nothing wrong with it. you know they can't sell something expired so I don't see why people are so afraid of it.Oh well works for me!

what Shavick said. I have a Walmart Neighborhood Market, Hy-Vee, and a Price Chopper all very close to my house. Everyone is always very friendly and helpful at Hy-Vee when I go and it's also very clean. The Price Chopper by our house is definitely nothing compared to Hy-Vee. Also they have a much greater selection than the Neighborhood Market. I do like my double coupon at Hen House though. So as you can tell I shop em all. LOL.

I live in Indianola. IA just South of Des Moines. We have a Hyvee, Super Walmart and a Fareway.

I am trying to avoid shopping at Walmart, and have been making a monthy trip to Super Target, buying meat at Fareway, and sale items at Hyvee.

OMG! I'm originally from Indianola...what a small world. I am now in Ankeny, IA and my sister and dad are still in Indian City. I love the new Indianola Hy-Vee it's super clean and big.

I like the Hyvee I shop at, I try to buy my meat there, it seems to be the freshed, and they will also match the Cub sales, last week Cub had Totino's pizza rolls 10/$10 and I had some good q's to use for these, well they were all out, so I got a rain check at Cub and took the add to Hyvee and they matched their price, I was great, so now I have some more of these q's and I can go and get the same deal at Cub this week.
My HyVee competes with Super Walmart, Aldi's, and Cub, they are all with in 4 blocks of each other.

Is there a certain day or time of day that they set out their marked down meat?

I know at one point one of the Hy-Vee stores doubled coupons on a certain day of the week. I don't know if they still do that, but you might want to check with your store's customer service. It might be worth shopping on a certain day if that's the case.
