Ok, did top of fridge and one junk drawer will do the other one tomorrow. Got rid of alot, but now I have my spice cabinet to go through, eeekkkk so much spice and no room, it is ridiculous...Nutmeg and celery salt attack me every time I open it.I can't break down and buy one of those organizers that hold them b/c they are expensive ($19.99) and it looks like they have to be in the middle to pull things out....any ideas??
I didn't keep count, but there was at least 100 items I got rid of.

They make small lazy susan's you can fit in your cupboard, I have a single decker and a double decker that I stack things on. The double decker is perfect for spices and since most spices come in their own jars, just stack em on the lazy susan.

My son got 67 things from his room (his count) of toys to donate/toss. DH got 7-- he doesn't part with things well.
so 74 more gone!!

Cleaned out a box of photos and a photo album. Not sure how I ended up with 4 copies of some pictures.

Absolutely!

I'm counting anything that leaves my house except "normal or daily" trash (ex newspaper, mail or packaging). If it's from "long term" packaging that consolidate such as pills, shampoos, etc. I'll count because it's 1 less thing hanging around. I'm sure others are counting differently. Hey, whatever works for you.

Brought 3 dead laptops to Best Buy yesterday to dispose of responsibly. They no longer charge to drop off - woo hoo! Had DS remove and destroy hard drives first. Have a box of old cords to go through today.

Consolidated a bunch of 1/2 full pill bottles (new!), got rid of old meds and have some clothes to donate.

25 items + 12 previous = 42 total. 1,970 to go!!

Slow process but I've been sick, so haven't been up to doing much other than laying on the couch watching tv. Ugh...

This is exactly what I am thinking as well. I am not counting things coming in because I feel we are getting control of not bringing too much in. The only exception to that rule has been this weekend. My sneakers desperately needed to be replaced so I got new ones and threw the old out. I consider that a wash, no loss, no gain.

Ok, I'm in. Doing some major cleaning tomorrow as we have guests coming this weekend so I'll post after I'm done.

Just wanted to give a great tip for donating old plastic containers & lids. My son's Elementary School Science teacher asked for any old plastic containers and or lids for her to use for simple experiments. The Art Teacher also requested these for mixing paint etc. Toilet paper & Paper towel rolls, egg cartons & plastic soda bottles were also requested. I sent a bunch of this stuff in with my son before Christmas so I can't count it now, but keep your local schools in mind while you declutter!
