I just received an email from Home Depot concerning Christmas lights. They are giving $3.00 off any energy efficient Christmas LED lights when you bring in an old strand. The limit is 5 per customer. The dates for this deal are 11/5/09 - 11/15/09. It looks like the lights are $5.97 for 50 lights. That would make each strand $2.97 and the energy cost is 80% less than the traditional ones!!! I am on their mailing list but I don't see any coupon so it looks like this is for everyone. Now I just have to dig out my Christmas storage. Hope this works for some of you.

Awesome! I wanted some last year, but they didn't have any left (home Depot sells out fast!). Even better, is that the lights I have I bought on clearance, so I only paid $2 for 3 strands, so MM!

Just cleaned out the basement this weekend and pulled out our oldie lights. Was thinking about getting new ones, as I am always worried about the heat that these produce and fire danger....Great deal. Home Depot will be getting these dinosaurs!

Just a note- Home depot put their lights out early (like already!) and they sell out FAST! (DH works there on weekends). Last year, the one by me was out by Thanksgiving. So stock up now!

I took mine first thing this morning. I think I was the first one, because no one knew much about it. I got 5 coupons, but they only had 4 boxes left of the white mini lights. It looks like the coupon is good on any size/kind of LED lights. They had a bunch of the multi colored mini lights for the $5.97 price. My HD said they had an order for 24 more of the white lights so I guess I will go back tomorrow to get the last box.

The only bad thing is the lights I traded in were 100 light strands and the leds are only 50, so I will probably have to get more.

Question is: Do you have to buy the lights that week too, or can you bring in the lights, get the coupon, and then buy the lights at a later date?

I'll have to check the coupon I have left over. I plan on going back, but from what I could tell it's valid through the 15th. The cashier won't know if you got the coupon that day or not. But I think the entire offer is good from the 5th-15th. HTH!
