| Help finding my DBF's birth mother
Who knows where I could possibly start????? My DBF was taken away from his birth mother when he was 6 months old (she was young and it was for neglect) and adopted at 5 years old. His adoptive parents pretty much put him on teh street at 13. He has no real relationship with them. We just received his pre adoption birth certificate and need to know where to start. There is no father listed, just his birth mother's maiden name. This was 29 years ago so who knows if she has a new last name now. He really wants to meet her or just see if she is interested in a relationship with him. Where should I start, has anyone been through something like this. We are very strapped for cash and most websites want you to pay and I don't want to pay unless we really have a chance to find her. Or is it just hope for the best with these websites. He wants to know if he has siblings, what really happened, medical history (I want to know this more I think). Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks guys.

the agency which he was adopted through... sometimes you can request contact.. especially since he is obviously over 18... he may have to write a letter and they will forward it on.. this varies state to state, agency to agency, adoption to adoption.. but it is worth a try also google the last name... and the town/state listed on the certificate.. you may find a marriage announcement and a new last name.... call the city which is listed as the birth town and see if they can help you out at all |

Also, you could try looking up the last name in the web white pages. If it was a child protection issue, the county that he was adopted from would have records too. I'll pray for you that you find the answers you need!
