And that's no offense to Gaston County. I used to live in Mt. Holly and was a coach at Stanley Middle. |

Does anyone know when the Lowes stores in Cleveland County will open? I tried shopping at Wal-Mart last week for groceries and spent way too much. This is going to take some adjusting.

That's awful! I guess I'll keep hoping for them to open one where Iive... but if they're closing stores then it's probably not likely to happen. :-/

For those of you who will be getting a Publix near to you, I'm sorry to put a damper on your expectations, but you'll probably be a little disappointed. I'm fortunate to have both HT and Publix stores where I live and I do most of my shopping at HT, with Publix second and Kroger third. There are occasional weeks when there are more good deals at Publix, but most weeks HT has more good deals. Most Publix stores only double Qs up to 50¢ (in Florida they don't double at all.) They don't have loyalty cards, so no EQs and no Saving Star. They don't mark their meat or produce down when it nears the "sell by" date, instead they donate it to local food banks. The good thing about Publix is they have a LOT of Publix store Qs which you can stack with MQs. HTH.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned - didn't go through every post again - but I was in my Lowe's yesterday (Huntersville, closing in 3 days), and they are re-opening in October. However, the cashier said it was a Harris Teeter "owned" store, called "Sellers." I don't know the proper spelling of the store, as I have never heard of it. Has anyone ever heard of that store? If so, any details?? Thanks for any insight!

Lincolnton is not that far from Gastonia, but the store is very small compared to the former Neal Hawkins store. Even the store in Cleveland county (Shelby) was much nicer. I was told by a manager at one of the former HT stores in Gastonia before they closed that the Lincolnton store was losing money and wasn't expected to remain open for more than a year. Again, there is no proof that it will even happen (and I hope for those in that area that it doesn't because I know how devasting it is as I have lost all 3 of mine). Since she was a manager, I'm sure she would know about the financial aspect of the stores. She said that the Neal Hawkins store in Gastonia was doing well financially. That's part of the reason why it never seemed to be about economical reasons in Gaston county. In other words, I don't think they closed down the stores that were doing poorly business-wise. Lowe's already had a store in Gastonia and maybe they wanted to take over Gaston County since they couldn't compete with Publix in Mecklenberg county (Charlotte) and Harris Teeter thinks that they can. I don't think that they (HT) were losing money in our county. Last edited by CouponingInNorthCarolina; 06-13-2012 at 06:45 AM. |

The Asheville store is already closed, I called and that is what they told me. I have heard that the Merrimon Ave store will not open until December 2013, Hope it does not take that long.

I'm shocked to hear this! I have to say I think this is quite a downgrade, for a lot of reasons. Booooo! :P HT is by far the better store!!!!

![]() It will be called Cellars or something, like you said. It will be an International Beer and Wine Store They will also be making the HT in Wesley Chapel one (Cellars) (HT will move where Lowes was) and also the Lowes in Corneilus will become a Cellars. I went to the Lowes in Huntersville today and it was GONE! I thought i'd drop in to get some last day deals. Oh well!

The same thing is happening to me but in reverse. My Lowe's stores are becoming HTs. I really would rather have LF.

| You might change your mind once you get your HT. We have Lowe's foods here and HT and I'd take HT any day over Lowe's.

This is not anything that has been confirmed, just heard it from another person who told me this. I was told that the HT in Lincolnton "may" eventually be converted to Ingle's. Again, nothing confirmed so I don't know if it is true, just the second time I've heard that the HT there may leave. It's the closest one to me at this time, and while I probably won't go there but once or twice a year due to distance, I hope for the sake of those who go there that it doesn't happen. I lost 3 near me and hate it so much and don't wish that on anyone. |

Looks like HT registered their trademark for "H.T. Cellars" back in 2009 ~ says its for a "retail store services featuring beer, wine, alcoholic beverages, mixers and related products and accessories." H.T. CELLARS Logo - Harris Teeter, Inc. Logos Doesn't say anything about them selling groceries.
