As I pulled into the parking lot, my stomach knotted and my pulse raced. I knew I shouldn't be there. I looked around furtively, hoping I wouldn't see or be seen by anyone I knew. I swallowed hard and tried to decide what to do. I'd promised myself I would do it just this once - a cheap fling that could perchance turn into something much more.

Steeling myself, I got out of the car. I lifted my head and put back my shoulders, trying to convince myself that this was going to be a good thing, that I'm the free, independent woman I tell everyone I am. Really, what I wanted to do was hunch over and race through the door so nobody could witness my indiscretion.

It should've been perfect, with the seductive lighting, tastefully understated decor, and sweet temptation lurking at every turn. A thousand scenarios ran through my head, flustering me and making me hesitant. It should've been exciting, this thing I was doing...but it wasn't. I couldn't help but compare things to what I already had - something warm, familiar, and inviting. I knew I had to get away quickly.

I fumbled for my things and muttered a quick thank you under my breath as I raced for the door. I knew I'd have to confess, to say it aloud because the guilt was killing me. So, here's the sordid truth: I cheated. The lure of a cheap thrill got the better of me and I gave into impulse. But now I know that it wasn't worth it.

So I'm sorry, Lowe's Foods...I can't see you any more. You're beautiful and it was fun while it lasted, but my heart belongs to Harris Teeter.

I knew it was about a super double trip to Lowe's Foods before I even opened the thread! GREAT READ...You should totally enter this in the HT facebook contest '"Tell us what you love about HT".....I know they are asking for video, but once they read this, it's gotta win a $250 gift card! And you could have someone film you 'acting the part'----in your car at Lowe's looking all distraught; then in your car at HT with a big smile...with store signs included in video.

P.S. I cheated twice this week too and it's only day two of super doubles ! But, I didn't neglect HT....I did spread the love; and although my heart does belong to HT, Lowe's was surprisingly great this week!

I have to say though, that I went to Lowe's last week for some cheap Pepsi and all I can say is that HT has nothing to worry about as far as losing me to them. I just don't like that store for some reason.

LOL, thanks to you and everyone else. Disclaimer: I'm a professional writer by trade but it's generally business writing. Usually by the end of the day, I'm so sick of dealing with words that I don't want to write anything else (like fiction). This however, got stuck in my mind while at LF and I was giggling to myself in the store. I'm sure the LF employees thought I was nuts.

I ran into Lowes' and ran out quickly like I was afraid to get caught However, I found the $3 Rebate wyb (3) avocados and $10 Meat and/or poultry (min. $10 purchase) ... so I might cheat again since the customer service only give me one form

That is great, you made me . I am not loyal to any of them...I go where the deals are. I am lucky to have 3 Lowe's and 5 HT within 30 min. I was recently in Pigeon Forge for a week, and I feel so bad for people who live there, only Kroger (which might have good deals, but that week was yuck) and Food City. HT and Lowe's spoil us!
