Hi, everyone. Not related to Super Doubles, but just wanted to share about chicken...

Behind the meat counter of my store (with all of the fancy meat!), they always have fresh boneless, skinless chicken breasts for 1.99 lb. I NEVER noticed this until a month or so ago, but this is even cheaper than their "family packs" of chicken. This seems to be the regular price for these, which is AWESOME!

Yea, they've had that for a very long time. Also, if you have a Kroger nearby the boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.79 this week ~ and even better deal!

Just a fyi, these usually are not as neatly trimmed as the pre packaged ones. I have to cut off more yucky parts/fat and I often find tiny pieces of bone. I once asked the butcher what the difference is between these and the pre packaged one and he confirmed what I already noticed about it not being so "clean cut". Once you cut off the yucky parts, the breast are great though, nice big, plump and juicy.

Someone else asked and was told that they were cheaper because they came in a box in 'bulk' form and weren't being pre-weighed and pre-packaged which costs them time and money.

The icky parts don't bother me, I pick up bone in breasts a lot of the time when they're .99 lb and debone them myself.

Yup, part of the packaging process is hand trimming, so essentially we got the same reply. I do cut a lot off (bones are a choking hazard for my kids, esp the youngest), so out of a price perspective it makes more sense for me to buy the pre packed trimmed ones if I can find it for $1.99 or less. If I cant, I buy these and trim them myself. Still a good deal.

You know what I miss, and maybe I'm the only one old enough to remember this. But when they first started selling deboned chicken breasts you used to be able to buy them with the skin still on them. They started removing the skin when they started selling chicken nuggets since thats a big part of what they chop and squish to make them from. Also we used to be able to buy bone in breasts that still had the wing attached, that stopped when buffalo chicken wings became an 'in' thing.

I'm kind of picky about chicken anyway, so I usually cut a lot off of any kind, but I honestly haven't noticed more cutting with these? Don't know if quality varies by store, but I have been 100 percent pleased with these. AND I love the price!
