Harris Teeter Coupon Policy

General

We accept coupons that have not passed their expiration date for use; we cannot accept any expired coupons.

We accept only one manufacturer coupon per purchased item.

We do not accept coupons on items not purchased.

Coupons must be presented at time of purchase; we cannot return money for coupons not used.

Coupons presented and items purchased must match exactly; size, variety, flavor, etc.

We uphold any purchase stipulations set forth by product manufacturer.

We accept one coupon per item purchased.

We accept coupons for items only of equal or more value; we do not give cash back.

Sales tax is paid by customer at full retail.

Doubling

We accept 20 double coupons per day per customer/household with VIC card; all others redeemed at face value. No orders may be separated that would allow the 20 coupon limit or any other coupon limits to be exceeded.

We double manufacturer’s coupons up to face value of $0.99; with total amount not to exceed $1.98 or entire retail of item; whichever is less.

We double up to three identical items with manufacturer coupon; additional coupons for like item will be honored at face value. Like items include all flavors.

No competitor coupons will be doubled or tripled.

Coupons that state “do not double” should not be doubled or tripled.
eVIC coupons can be accepted along with paper coupons, however will not be doubled.

Internet Coupons

We gladly accept internet manufacturer’s coupons for product; however no “free” product internet coupons are accepted.

With the purchase of two like manufacturer’s products, we accept two internet coupons, per store, per day.

We do not accept internet coupons that do not appear to be originals or that won’t scan.

Competitor's Coupons

We gladly accept local competitors’ manufacturer coupons. We also redeem circular or direct-mail coupons for money off of the total order.

We do not accept any internet coupons from other retailers.

Rainchecks

Rainchecks never expire and are accepted at any Harris Teeter store.
We do not issue rainchecks for coupon items that may be out of stock or for “while supplies last” items.

We reserve the right to limit raincheck quantities based on product availability and advertised limits.

Rainchecks can be written for a limit of three unless otherwise stated in the ad.

Scan Guarantee

Our scan guarantee states "If an item scans higher than the shelf tag or sign, you will receive one like item free, excluding alcohol and tobacco."

We will honor five "scan guarantees" per customer; all other pricing inadequacies will result in the difference between the shelf tag and the actual price of the item being refunded.

Harris Teeter reserves the right to limit quantities in coupon usage, as well as products and to amend our policies as we deem appropriate.

Response from HT Corp re: Recycle Bank $10 off $50 coupons (received 2/17/12):

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately the $10 off $50 Recycle Bank coupon can only be used towards the purchase of merchandise in the store, not gift cards. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for being our customer!

New: We accept one coupon per item purchased.

So this means only the first five different items scanned incorrectly in one order would be eligible for 'free'? The reason I find this confusing is because it already states that you only will receive one like item for free. The scenario of five different items scanning incorrectly seems unlikely.

Some of the Larabar flavors were scanning incorrectly when they were recently on sale for $1 each. I went to CS with two receipts and two incorrect scans on each (a total of four times I was charged $1.50 rather than $1). They gave me one free; and refunded me an additional $1.50. I guess it would be the same under the "new" policy?

This was the only change I noticed too - which is a great one!

Not sure if this is new, but the accept local store - Manufacturer's coupons has been a problem for me. The coupons will say manufacturer, but have a Farm Fresh or Food Lion logo on it and they will not accept it. I am printing the policy!

I had this confirmed yesterday by a CS person. She told me as I was checking out that now they do take 2 coupons with the BOGO items.

I noticed some post on here of going several times each day during triples. Is the 20 coupon limit per day or per transaction? Is your card in some system so the computer knows you've already used your 20 limit that day or is it the honor system?

It is per day and they track it by your HT card. I suppose if you don't use the card...you could exceed the 20 per day limit. I think that the only way that would work is if you were buying things that were not on VIC card sale and that typically defeats the purpose of trying to get the best deal...

Also, it is a 20 per day limit on coupons that they double/triple, so coupons over $0.99 wouldn't count towards the 20 limit.

You have to use a card to have your coupons doubled or tripled. The only way you could get around the 20 doubled per day per household is if you brought a friend along.

People will use friend's and family's cards. No reason to really. HT is really good about replenishing stock. Just prioritize your shopping from your free items to higher OOP amounts and make severly trips through out the week. Thats what I so. HTH

1. Example: buy 4 ice creams, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, rocky road. Use 4 Q's .50/1 and 3 of them will be allowed to double, but the 4th will not.

I just use three identical Q's at a time. That way they all double.

2. You can only give the cashier 2 IP Q's at a time.

If I want to use more, I take my stuff out to my car and come back in.

(the per store, per day part is hard to enforce and I've had MANAGERS tell me to do multiple trans to use more than 2. YMMV)

I thought it was you can use only 2 Internet Printables per like items. For example, if you have IP's for BBQ Sauce, you can only use 2. But if you have IP's for other products, you can use those as well, it's 2 for each different product.

I believe you are correct. A majority of our coupons are IPs and that is how we do it. The only problem I have had is with the new BOGO rule (one coupon per item purchased) I will be posting a thread later about our late night shopping trip and 2 rude cashiers later....Seems like since it is so new the managers have not updated/informed their employees about this change.

Yes, you are correct. I should have specified that. 2 SAME IP's at a time.

I called our Bells Forks HT this week June, 17th and was told that they do now honor two coupons on the BOGO...the manager told me that the clerks have all been told of the change which went into effect in May, 2011.

It doesn't hurt to call your local HT and ask if they have updated their new corporate policy at their particular store.

I have never had an issue with the Bells Fork location not allowing 2 q's on the BOGO sales even before the new coupon policy went into effect.

I did...sent my hubby to purchase BOGO on pedigree dog food, and the clerk told him he had to buy four to use both coupons...that was the reason for my call to the manager...thanks for your reply...must have just been the clerk or?

The clerk was correct as the Pedigree dog food is just on sale and he was using 2 BOGO coupons on 2 cans of dog food as best as I can put together. In order to use 2 BOGO coupons then he would have needed to purchase 4 cans of dog food. I am assuming you are referring to the BOGO Pedigree canned dog food q that was in the 6/19 Red Plum. I hope that this makes sense....

This was a couple of weeks ago and it was on dry dog food, purina BOGO the 17+ pound bag. We had two $2.00 manufacturers coupons so the way I read the new policy they should have allowed one $2.00 m/c on each bag but the cashier refused to let him use both coupons......(this was right after the change was made so I guess not everyone understood the change)...thanks for your reply.

I understand now. He definitely should have been able to use those q's and get 2 items! I have rarely experienced issues at the Bells Fork HT and I shop there at least 1x weekly but I avoid Charles Blvd HT like the plague. There is one cashier at Bells Fork that I avoid b/c she is not friendly at all....
