Well, the new RC policy sure is causing problems for our "fav" CS workers as I predicted! I walked up to get RC on Martha White & the Mazola spray & the nice/polite CS guy apologized right off the bat & told me he was not sure how to issue the *new* RC. He called the manager over while a throng of disguntled shoppers assembled behind me, hoping for RC on the E-Vic special of .99 sugar! Since there is only ONE computer to issue the "inventory control number" at the CS desk, you can imagine the wrath of the building crowd, coupled w/ the fact that the Mazola spray was NOT even in the system! I was informed by the store manager that the new RC would have to be specific about flavors/scents, etc. They actually needed to know which Martha White muffin flavors I wanted, so I went over to look & came back w/ my list. All the while, shoppers were joining the unfriendly escapade of being forced to wait a ridiculous amount of time for a RC that could have simply been written out in less than a minute 2 days ago. By this time, there were 3CS people (including the unfriendly *beep*) writing out RC, but that wasn't helping anyone yet, b/c they STILL had to be entered into the system!!! I finally decided to cut everyone a break & asked the friendly guy to finish my RC when he had time tonight & I would pick them up tomorrow. I said over my shoulder to the *beep,* "please make sure you give____ my sugar RC when you're finished writing it!" More dirty looks.... !Ahhhhhh, I almost forgot....since my store was completely out of the E-VIC special (.99 sugar), they would NOT issue a RC for that amount. We could only get the 2/$3.00 price! I guess they were afraid of someone getting an extra sugar for that price??? C'mon, after this new RC fiasco, we all deserve a FREE sugar!!!! HT, do us all a favor & ditch this new RC crap!!!! There was a line at my store for RC's too. New RC policy had 1 lady trying to find them on the computer & 1 man running back & forth to make sure they were out of the items. 5 RC's = 45 minutes! Did get the .99 sugar + the 2 for 3.00. She informed me that there were absolutely none in the warehouse. I asked her who was in charge of ordering & making sure they had everything stocked. She told me the manager. I told her that she needed to let him fill out allllll of these RC's & maybe next time we won't have to waste our time or theirs on RC's. She said that she already told him he needed to do it. It would really be nice if we could go to a store & find the advertised sale items actually on the shelves. We could make our list & get everything on it! Ok, back to reality Anywho, I had a great trip thanks to AFC. Love this site!!! |

| You don't have to receive a raincheck on the $.99 sugar. At my store, Reston, VA, they were out. RGIS the inventory company doing the counts today was the reason they were not so quick in stocking the sugar and flour sales. However, I asked a store manager is they would SUBSTITUTE since they were out. The store manager substituted the Domino 5# Sugar for me for the SAME price as the out-of-stock sugar. He had to override the sugar price to equal the sale price. Scan Coordinators were entering the adjusted substitute price so that the registers would scan correctly. I got my flour and sugar using substitute products. Just ask the Customer Service Desk and they can verify with the Co-Managers/Store Managers or Grocery Managers. Do not take the word of the CS Clerks. You can substitute comparable products--easier than rainchecks. Also, after the inventory people had finished counting the aisles of baking products--i.e. flour and sugar items--the managers had someone put new stock out. They already had counted the backstock in the back stockroom per the manager's info to me. Hope this helps-- Foodie |

Yeah, thats what they did for me regarding the Heinz ketchup. They were out of the 14,20 oz. And they asked me if I would take a substitute and I said that I have coupons for Heinz and not Hunts and the manager said I will override the coupons for you. So I ended up getting the 40 oz Heinz for the 20 oz price plus my coupons.

I don't see me asking for rainchecks in the near future, but I'm sure that was their plan.

Edited to add that of course while all this was going on, cashiers were paging CS to help w/ various problems & none of them were available to go b/c they were too embroiled in RC riots... !

I do have a strategy for today's trip, however. They're having wine tasting at my store this afternoon, so I plan to "knock a few back" before I have to deal w/ RC riots again... !

| Did they write it the regular way, or did you have to wait for the computer to assign an iventory control #?

That would be great if they do it at my store. I don't think I'm ever gonna get my ketchup. |

I've been lucky so far and found everything in stock but I do have a question just in case. If I get a RC and I use it next week will they still triple my coupons?

I've been lucky so far...I've waited 5-10 minutes, but I'm fine with it, since they told me the idea of this new system is to help them keep better inventory in the future. I feel sorry for them having to learn this new system.

There was a sign at one of my HT stores yesterday stating "Please substitute Crystals Sugar for the HT sugar eVic offer. We apologize for any inconvenience." That said, both the HT sugar AND the Crystals brands were out of stock. So, the CS person wrote me a RC for (1) HT sugar at 0.99 ![]() Their new policy will NOT stop me from getting rainchecks. RC are AWESOME! What a way to preserve a sale price til the next time you need the item. KWIM?

| No. They will not triple your coupon once the triple coupon event is over.

Sorry it was such an icky experience! I'm new to getting rainchecks so since I'm learning the system I try to be patient w/the person writing them. I haven't gotten any under the new system yet, but since I tend to shop during the morning hours when the store's not as crowded hopefully it will go more smoothly.

| A friend picked it up for me (we work together and she had to run to HT to pick up some items for work) I work in a fine dining restaurant. The RC is just a normal handwritten RC w/o any #'s on it. Says: Three deals, BOGOF, Dukes mayo 32 oz. dated and signed. I ran back into HT yesterday am (Fri.) and the mayo was restocked so I still have my RC for later!!! HTH

| I know this was answered in an earlier post, but also wanted to let you know that you can hold onto this RC until the next triples and use it then. The bad side of this is that we don't know when the next big sale is. HTH

Anyone else getting the grief that they will only write rain checks for items advertised in the sale flyer? If it's posted on the shelf, and they're out, too bad! I had this happen twice so far this week. I'm STEAMED!! |
